Angry Coles pricing on home delivery

    Hi all,

    long time no see.

Just doing a heads up for those of you who use home delivery from Coles.

They are gradually increasing prices for delivery and their products if purchased online.

This is the only official notice I have seen from Coles they are doing this (Please note store & online prices may differ). It appears only once on their website.

I assume it's their way of increasing profits and trying to compete with Woolworths who are way ahead.

Do any of you remember when the ceo's of both Coles and woolies swore black and blue on the telly and in the press that they did not and will not charge more for home delivery (online costs) than prices in store.?

    Maybe I'm dreaming .....

Anyhow nice to see you all again

    Luv and kisses as always

    Bye

I dont use Coles myself , but i wouldnt trust them as far as i can kick them , and i know , i used to be thier Facilities Manager. Bunch of lying dishonest bullies who bash contractors and suppliers over the head for price reductions , which are not passed on to shoppers. Home deliveries in metro areas will soon be made direct from their automated distribution centres , which eliminate staff and boost the bottom line even further. Its the shoppers will pay more for thier corporate greed , every time

It is a service, its saving you money(fuel), time and potential vehicle damage

So it's obviously going to come at a cost
I know a lot of young Mums that use it for this reason, they also found different ways to make it cheaper
But that was because they grouped together, probably wouldn't help a single person.

The biggest saving would be not to shop at Coles at all

EG: There is a independent Fruit n Vege place here called Fruit Shack
They will do a $20 mixed box for you, delivery to your door, hand over $20 cash, done!
(They even have a Return Policy on the Fruit n Vege!!!!)
You get heaps more than you'd get from Coles or Woolies for the same money.... HEAPS more!

Maybe ask some local business's if they would consider that
The butcher also does it and he is next to the Fruit n Vege place and a Bakery, he will get you things from those shops too, IF you order meat off him.

Support the local family business's.... Fark Coles!
With thier Milk price increase that does not reach the Farmers
And thier plastic bags you have to buy!

+ 1 to supporting smaller local businesses
We spend at least 75 - 80% of our grocery budget at smaller local butchers & fruit n veg places

There is a place not too far from here that has a huge fruit and veg section, an awesome Deli and a small butchery and bakery . The meat we have got from there isn't particularly cheap or expensive but it's bloody good. So is the bread. not at all unusual to pick up stuff and it's still hot let alone warm. The have a good selection of fine and hard to get foods as well that always make me salivate. I'm sure they must have 100 different BBQ sauces and 40 different olive oils.

We love shopping there. The atmosphere is great, they have a ship load of staff in the deli which is always flat out and it's just a nice shopping experience and so much better than the overly brightly and flat lit supermarkets.

Wasn't even aware they still did home delivery. Never used it in my life. Spose the way people are now, putting the groceries in the car and brining them home and taking them out again would be all too hard.

I remember my aunt. Walked to the shops 5 Km and back with a couple of bags of shopping. She was in her '70's. She would walk back and then get my uncle to meet her with the car because the milk and drinks were too heavy for her to carry all of them at once. She scoffed at the suggestion of going by car, that was her exercise and she was determined to wear out not rust out as she would say. She was a tough old bird that one. Course had all her own teeth when she died and no fillings and hadn't seen a doctor since she gave birth.

I met with Ma_Baker a while back, to assist with a Technical matter, and understand his position.
He is alone and house bound. To find any alternative to the mainstream online stores, he would require someone to spend the day with him canvasing his local area and set it up for him.

If you need help Ma, PM me.

looking it up, Coles delivery starts at $8 and is free for orders over 150.
Seems very reasonable. I wouldn't like to be running round groceries for $8 a drop that's for sure.

    George,

Update your info by logging in to Coles.

The prices you quote are from many months ago.

    Cheers

In case your wondering regarding TV. I can't see me going ahead for quite some time.

My HDD died and I am still paying for that. The Electricity bill wipes me out every month.

Where do you think I got them? I did look up the coles web site.

Maybe they vary for different locations?
Where is the pricing you are working from and getting charged?
