Default Xiaomi Mi A3 Great but one small/huge problem

Toby Deals got this phone to me quickly and supplied cover, screen protector and Australian adapter(Best adapter I have ever received-solid)

But after using Google to transfer everything from my old phone(Xiaomo Mi A1) I was very pleased with the phone and how it showed all my old photos, contacts etc. So I decided to take my SIM out of my old phone and put it into the new A3.

When I did so it asked for a PIN.(See attached photo) After a long time with Google on Chat they said I did not have or require a PIN and it was a Hardware fault. I also inquired with my SIM provider(Aldi) and they said they did not have/require a PIN number.

I can't even enter the device to delete all my personal data to send it back to for a warranty repair or replacement. I have tried to contact Xiaomi but have had nothing in return. After removing the SIM the new A3 still wanted a PIN??? The SIM was put back into my old A1 and it continues to work as per normal but still locked out of the A3.(Pin required after device restarts - is what is displayed)

This all happened yesterday and just sent off emails to Toby Deals who are rather prompt in replying the next day.

A shame as the phone was most impressive before the SIM stuff up. Camera(3) and no problems at all seemed great and the display was good even reading print. So concerns over the non HD display were relieved.

    Any assistance gratefully appreciated.

Have you tried the "default" pins for devices such as this. Sometimes 0000 or 1234. Can't hurt to try.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Yeah! Those and up to 44 different combos as we speak. Hoping Google can remove all my content on that in case it has to be sent back.

    Thanks but no go.

Holding the POWER button for a brief period gives gives you the usual 3 options, Power Off, Restart and Screenshot. Doing as you suggested automatically restarts it and ends up with the same screen requesting PIN. No other options shown.

Press and hold POWER BUTTON + VOLUME UP BUTTON key - at the SAME TIME! It does work on some of the devices that I have needed to reset. I forgot about that.

Humblest apologies! After your post and this email from Toby's Deals with the YouTube link showing this Dummy me how to do it.

It did work and I did a full factory reset then Google transferred all my Contacts, photos, apps etc and the phone works a treat.

If still not working, please get back to us on this RMA Ticket asap within your 14 days DOA period. Thanks for your help.

What a relief. Shall report back on the phone's cameras and anything worth reviewing. So far great value for under AU$220.(LOL Not the $497 at Officeworks)

Will keep my A1 as a backup phone. LOL Miss it already but this A3 is easier to hold and even with the lower resolution screen it is still attractive to look at.

LOL Atleast Hoe and Toby's Deals were helpful unlike Mi customer support India who I turned to in desperation.
"I thank you from the bottom of my bottom"

Thank you for contacting Mi India Customer Support. I am Ravina and I understand that whenever you put your sim in Mi A3 it is asking to enter pin.

I would like to inform you that there is no issue with the device. However, I would request you to coordinate with the network service provider if the issue persists kindly get back to us with the snapshot of the error so that we may assist you further.

LOL Until I can find the regular wallpaper widget I have used for ages or take a decent photo to use here is my temporary one on the A3.

It is of a friends dog "Max" who I occasionally babysit. Taken with the old A1 after he jumps up on the vacant seat, rearranges the cushion and flobs. Shortly afterwards he is totally settled in and snoozing.

PS: It is the photo that is blurry and not the A3 screen resolution. Other pics are much better. IMHO
Even the HD CCTV picture on the A3 is sharp and clear. Every bit as sharp as the A1 was.

Some crappy experimental shots in very low light taken inside last night whilst trying to watch TV were surprisingly quite good but subject matter was crap and deleted. As to a short video taken of a TV scene and sent on to a friend via Messenger.

As I previously mentioned the adapter for charging Toby Deals supplied is quite solid and not the usual flimsy/sparking type.
    Thanks Toby Deals.

PS: A3 used for above quick photos
Used the short video setting to take some shots of band playing at the local RSL. Video was okay apart from my not so steady hand.(I must start using my new Atom Snoppa gimbal) the sound of the band was average on playback. Probably due to loud sound in enclosed space. Not horrible but acceptable.

Seeing there are no questions my opinion...
It is a good buy at this price and the camera is very good. Stills and video.
Non HD screen display is not a concern so don't let that deter you from buying this Xiaomi Mi A3

    PS: Can recommend Toby's Deals
