    Default Facial Recognition

Worried about this as overseas experience has been fraught with problems...

The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

You're not thinking about this clearly.
If you want to get the best from any technology then the question you need to ask is....
now lets see how can we use this against our politicians.

Politicians would be exempt and protected but the media is still doing it's best to reveal some lies or uncomfortable truths with the help of tech.

Mistaken identity is the topic here.
No facial recognition can be 100% but as long as they find somebody to lynch it doesn't really matter.
Maybe it is time that everybody wears body cameras 24/7 to prove that you are innocent.

All jokes aside (funny and probably accurate), it's dangerously absurd to give law enforcement such a ridiculously inaccurate means of surveilling and/or detaining people going about their lawful business...

Don't really care if they make few mistakes as long as they don't miss the real target.

No-one raises privacy complaint going through security check at the airport these days even though the whole process assumes you are guilty unless proven otherwise.

The question is what happens next if they made a mistake? How quickly they can identify the real identity?

How quickly they can then refund and compensate you for the missed flights and massive potential inconvenience that they have unjustly subjected you to due to their faulty and inaccurate equipment.

Not just to refund. The compensation will be to pay for all my flights for the rest of my days plus clearance card so it doesn't happen again.

If you want to see its future potential. visit China.

My son just got from a business trip there chasing parts for us, cameras with facial recognition everywhere, you sneeze, they know it, you cannot escape big brother.

I remember him whining when he applied for the visa about the picture details when doing the application, no piercings, etc, i told him before he left, that photo was to be used for photo recognition, so they can monitor his movements or if any westerner committed a crime when he was there.

Welcome to big brother.....its going to eventually be everywhere in every country.

At the same time moves will be made to make us a cashless society, the govt will know what you have and where you are at all times.

Tax avoidance and crimes will become harder to do, its all about controlling society.

.... its all about controlling society.
It is about the numb nut followers exposing themselves on social media, willing to give up privacy, using payment methods that make banks rich with money they don't have.
Not the governments, the people themselves are fault.
They allow and give their governments every opportunity for a Big Bother, they actually want to be controlled.
There is of course a lot of brainwashing involved as very few can think for themselves these days.
China knows how to use of this to control their sheep but here in the western world the people are so stupid our governments don't need much effort.
Here this is not coming just from one source only. Google, Facebook, Government, hidden third parties, they are all taking control of your life.

Big Bother is not the problem, Brave New World is.

    It is very scary!

Technology flaws can and are being fixed - this is the fact. Austech is a technology forum and we should understand that this is a process of improvement and bug fixes. Why do people assume the technology will focus on innocent? Not doing it at all and crims will not be caught - 100% guarantee.
What kind of privacy violation are we talking about. Are we worried that our faces will be scanned?
You go through custom and stick your passport with digital biosignature, exposing our faces to the camera which checks our facial image etc, etc.
Big brother is watching us for decades since technology entered our lives, web cams, even speed cameras can be seen as privacy violation devices.
We like it or not big percentage of population are actively expose themselves to entire world via facebook and alike.

I think the war has been lost long time ago and I don't see any way to go back.
