There were more burnt sections towards Cobungra but I kept the detail to a min.
I don't why the high plains rd is still closed. I prob would have come home that way as it's a little shorter and less twisty but then who's kidding who....I love the twisties!!
I reckon the dead fish were mainly carp.
And yes I was close to that little grass fire. 2 properties across. Some little turds lit the grass on fire. I thought it odd smelling smoke and turned the cooler off. Then I went out the front a while later and then I saw the lights of the CFA truck flashing!!! They should be staked and burnt. Idiots!!

Good photos LP, does make one want to pack up and head out to support the smaller towns that are suffering.

And, it's not looking good again late this week and for the weekend.
The whole SE Australia are again going to have more dangerous hot windy weather.
So sick of the smoke and knowing our emergency services are not getting a break.
I have never looked forward to winter more so than now.

The Orroral Valley fire from our balcony yesterday evening...not very sharp as taken from my daughters phone. Looking south, the glare in the left foreground is the street light.
The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

And all the locals in that location are complaining about the people coming to have a look and blocking streets.
Oh and there also complaining about no internet as they can't get on Facebook.
I am just hoping it doesn't hit north side.

That fire is getting a bit close! Yes we had the rubber neck issue the other week too. Then the next day after the fire was put out oh the traffic that came to do a big loop from Wodonga. Never seen so much traffic!! They actually put 40kph limits on the 100kph sections because it was too difficult for CFA/SES vehicles to get in and out around the place!!

I'm very much in 2 Minds about the Rubberneckers.
Normally I would be against it but in this case, I'm more leaning towoard it being not at all bad.
It's one thing to see this on TV and think " oh how terrible". It's a whole different reality check and realization to see it in the flesh.
One has no idea of the extent and severity of fires until they see them in the flesh or the aftermath.
I have been looking at maps up here at my fathers place for a couple of months and know the area. It's only when you drive around and see KM after KM burnt out and things like where the nature strip in front of houses has burnt and how close it comes to town and down the road here, a servo that is burnt to the fence line on all 3 Sides. You wonder how it survived and then find out it was water bombed continuously.
I think people getting out and seeing this and having the reality check is far from a bad thing. Having an appreciation for the extent of these fires and an empathy for those that have suffered as a result of them can only lead to more awareness, more mindfulness of the dangers of fire and, probably more donations for those than have been victims.
I also favor the thought of people whom have seen things first hand being a lot more likely to turn up at the local Bush fire brigade or volunteer to help at other places.
Rubberneckers during a fire should be all fined (charged admission fees ) of, at least $100 per car with all the proceeds going to firefighters. Their cars should be impounded, too, and sold.
After a fire, hell yeah!!! As long as they all stop and support the local businesses.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

The night of the fire had them everywhere to the extent they were almost blocking roads while the local residents were evacuating! And if the wind changed and the fire started heading straight for them? The winds come from all directions where I am due to being at the end of a mountain range. No place for rubber necks in this kind of situation.

No, and i didn't contemplate that. Didn't occur to me that people would be coming for a look while the fires were in progress. I mistakenly assumed people would want to see the damage AFTER the fires had passed.
My ignorance. Didn't think people would be that stupid, guess that makes me more stupid than them? :0(
