Well guess what, it's been 40+ for the last 2 days here and will be up till Sunday, so it coming to your neck of the woods again. Hopefully it might coll off before it gets there

Bet it will hit mid 40 again for most of the week. I know it's summer but I feel for you lot over there as it really isn't what you want to come your way again.

Amazing how this thread went cold when Corona Virus thread started...

    Just watching the ABC

    7.30 Report repeat.

Hard to think what is more devastating.
These people, farms, property, live stock and wildlife have sure been forgotten in the media's eye due to current events.

    Have we learnt anything?
Are we allowed to clear our own land as we see fit?
Especially if it abuts the forest

Everyone on this show is repeating over and over, the critical importance to clear 50meters around your house.

On the ABC? The most anti clearing green coolaid station before the fires???
The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

depends on your local council laws.

If you border state forest or national park, you cannot touch their trees, however if you cleverly approached them for boundary protection, they may give you some room, though I doubt you would have a house built closer than 50m to a boundary in most rural areas.
I had to get planing dispensation to build a shed that goes inside our 50m boundary offset by 5m, with my neighbours boundary, cost $500 planning permission, well worth it. They would never have let a house get built that close out here.
    Cheers, Tiny
