I bought a used Syma X5C with a bunch of spare parts on eBay recently. The seller specified that it had one bad motor, and several spares he just didn't feel like installing.
It does indeed come with several new spare motors, and like 10 batts plus the remote - for the price I paid, I'm happy even if this can't be made to work.
But it doesn't appear that the motor is malfunctioning; rather, the little nylon nut that the propeller sits on is broken somehow. It's not part of the motor, it is on the other end of the axle that connects to the gear that the motor drives.
Googling for Syma spare parts seems to show lots of cogs/gears/pinons and shafts but I can't seem to find this thing - what is it called?

...seriously? It's called the "small hexagon"??
Wow. And thanks!
..propeller fixing nut actually =)
Good to know. I'm gonna check a local RC hobby shop tomorrow to see if they have any, rather than waiting for mail order. But it looks like I may have a spare already - the seller included a broken arm along with the spares:
Now before I go breaking this stuff, can I just ask - is it a simple friction-fit I can gently tease apart, or should I take another approach?
BTW - I ordered a spare battery for my X26 drone from the Syma parts store a few weeks ago - check out how it came packaged!
Update - I found a video from Syma itself where the process shown just involved yanking the propeller off, which I finally managed to do, and long story short I got it flying for a while. Now to figure out which of the 10+ batteries I was given are worth a damn... (first step - dispose of the puffy ones!)
