if you fly in it is auto 14 day isolation

Its is only those living on the border that can go back and forth
for work - medical - school.

anything else is you get there you are straight into isolation.

They are actually tightening it tonight saw them adding more cops and closing more
and more roads forcing you to the two main highways for checks

Yep you are correct - all internal borders are requiring self isolation for 14 days, International is a mandatory 14 days stuck in a hotel room not of your choice......... which the NT is making you pay for yourself.

Hopefully we have a Prime Minister with the balls of Trump and makes China pay the massive bill we are going to have come the end of the year

Or will we just go "There there, these things happen, its ok"....... "Have some more of our land and iron ore. He's another port and pastoral land... Have a couple of dairies too"

I saw on SM some morons moaning about the country becoming a Police state and giving up their " Rights" with having to go through checks on the borders.
Too young and ignorant to remember when this was standard practice. Every time you crossed a state border they would go through your car and Caravan if you were towing one, looking for Fruit and Veg.

No one felt like their " Rights" were being infringed or that big brother was watching, they knew it was trying to stop the spread of something Damaging to an industry.

Now it's trying to keep people alive and well and these self centred prats think they are being all hard done by.

Good news Snowflakes. This is just the warm up. Time this is over you are going to have to swallow a whole load of Concrete and hardened the Fk right up.

Daughter works in Retail. Just telling me how they put a sign at the front of the store with the entrance closed down to one person wide.
The sign says please observe social distancing rules and keep 1.5 m Apart.

All the Punjabs and Asians are coming up, reading the sign, Backing away from it then pressing themselves against the wall as they walk through trying to keep 1.5 M away from the SIGN!

She said it's been going on all day and they can't stop pissing themselves laughing watching all these people doing it.

Interesting, is America now lying about its COVID-19 figures?

    3am today

    5am today

While world numbers exceed 1 Million official cases, America is going backwards

Back to Coronavirus, watched the 4 Corners program I recorded a few nights ago, last night. I really believe that the Commonwealth Chief Medical Officer, Professor Brendan Murphy has to go. His initial response to this virus was not medical, he was just saying what the politicians wanted to hear. The pathetic initial response here in Australia is why we have such draconian measures now, if they had closed the borders sooner we would not have half the problem we have now.

And I'm not speaking with hindsight, I said this back in this thread on 28 Jan, see post 18 on the first page. I said the same in an email to the PM, which was ignored. He was saying then that it was OK to go to the footy, but we had cases of the Virus detected here and who knows how many undetected. It took one of their own, Peter Dutton, coming down with this before they got serious in Canberra.

    Yes, amazing what testing does

It is scary the number of infected when using the UK modelling, which takes into account all non tested people

Between 7 and 43 million individuals have been infected up to 28th March, (1.88% and 11.43% of the population)
And that is just in these countries:
Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK

I would not believe 5% of ANYTHING on the ABC. They have been calling for a total lockdown from day one, based on the advice of their doctor, qualified to be sure, but no expert on anything. The ABC are just overpaid, bigoted mouthpieces who have a guaranteed government salary (a big one) and don't give a sh!t about, or understand, the daily concerns and fears of ordinary Australians. It's just a left wing anti coalition gabfest. They'd complain about Morrison and Co regardless of what happened. I find it interesting that the predominantly ALP national cabinet has a different view to the ABC and their own medical experts support Murphy.

He has the advice of the best epidemiologists to hand. Has this thing been done perfectly? No. Have some poor decisions been made. Yes.

Has it been done without panic and with due consideration of the largest number of affected citizens, both here and abroad? In my view yes. Has there been enough testing? No. But there just wasn't the MEANS to do the testing in large numbers. That is just coming on stream now.

I won't go into that cruise ship...whomever is responsible for making that decision should be shot. If it was the NSW Health Minister, the aptly named Brad Hazzard, then he should be taken to the cleaners with a revolving chimney sweeper.

We're doing OK I reckon. Better than I thought we would be at this stage. Been to and fro for over a week between Canberra and Westmead Hospital in Sydney. I spoke to a lot of medicos, including some at the COVID-19 clinic. They are a tad surprised too.

I dread to think what would have happened had each way been in charge....

I see the union doesn't want to unload the containers from a Chinese ship in Melbourne for fear of the virus. They don't have to touch any of the goods packed, but nooooo, too dangerous. I bet a little "hazard pay" would grease the wheels. So much for pulling together.

An update to george65 question about going to qld.

as of this morning i can confirm they are really coming down hard

my wife who drives a bus just told me that they are stopping everyone
including the buss's crossing the border.

She was stopped and all passengers were questioned and those without the
right pass for work etc were escorted of the bus and advised to make
    arrangements to get back home

However now in hindsight, had that happened many death would not have happened people would not have caught this from casual contact and the country would have started getting back to normal by now, except for no foreign visitors, be that tourists, workers or students and you and I could meet down the pub for a beer. As things stand we are going to be locked down for many months yet.

Wheres any evidence that that would have occurred? There is none. It's just an unsubstantiated opinion, the kind the ABC excels at.

    April 2 (GMT)

2116 new cases and 1355 new deaths in France, including 884 fatalities in nursing homes [source] [source]
The nursing home figures are a very sobering reminder

I doubt it very much. While this is still in the overall growth stage, there is no way anyone is getting back to normal . Having closed borders is far from "Normal" even if you main goal is getting on the piss with your mates at the boozer.

yep it is terrible. The other thing ppl in aus are forgetting also is that europe
is coming out of their winter flu season as well and we are about to enter ours
so we could see a dramatic jump here.

Absolutely...we could see a complete reversal....those at Westmead that I spoke to were all worried about this....
