Finally, someone getting into the swing of things.... "SPORTSBET has opened a market allowing punters to bet on what item Woolworths will apply a purchase limit to next as coronavirus panic buying grips the nation."
now there seems to be 2 strains, and you can get both at the same time.......

Bugger!...that's not on the sportsbet card yet, but it did make me wonder where condoms are manufactured. I'll have to check when next in Woolies...
I see Tim-Tams are out to $22 for the next restricted item bet ... I'm thinking smoked oysters myself ... all smoked oysters come out of China, even John West doesn't reject them. The odds on facial tissue and hand sanitizer are shortening...not really good odds an just under $1.20 ...I might put a bet on baby formula seeing as it's fashionable...
[TIC] Normally, I don't bet at all but this is one of those opportunities to profit from the boundless stupidity of people...better odds than lotto too ; people are sooo predictable.
If I were the CEO of a company with a product(s) sold in supermarkets, I'd be on twit brain and having all my staff get on it as well posting about a coming shortage of my product and some cross posts about hearing it helps prevent corona Virus.
This would be great for products that are seasonal. Nothing like selling out of sunscreen in the middle of winter and you know with the right story and a few people repeating it, there are thousands out there stupid enough to start a rush and make it happen.

A bit odd about Ferrari.....you'd think that they'd be delighted to be here instead of Italy.
It's the Italian GP I'd worry about.
The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.
“Part of the team and equipment have already arrived in Melbourne and the departures for the remaining members of the team are going ahead as programmed unless we receive communications to the contrary.”
This business of asking people nicely to "self isolate" just doesn't work. Here in Tasmania, we have two cases. Both were asked to self isolate pending test results. The first case, in Launceston involved an Iranian who was instructed to "self isolate", but went shopping instead:
In the second case, after having a swab taken and being instructed to "self isolate", the diseased person went to work at a major hotel instead:
I seriously wonder at our health authorities and how f...ed we'd all be if this thing had a mortality rate of 50%. Tasmania is an island state, off the coast of an island nation, so how incompetent is our government for letting this thing get here so quickly? Tasmania's health system is out of control on a normal weekend (and I know: I've spent hours standing in a corridor with a sick elderly relo on a trolley and ambulances ramped). I have no idea how they're going to cope if/when this thing gets properly going in the wider population.

Answer: They aren't going to cope as we just don't have a mechanism in place to do whats really needed. And we haven't since the war. What do you suggest the government should have done? Put guns at all airports and ports and just stop international travel and commerce?
No-one wants to make any hard decisions, State or Federal. They are all subject to the recommendations of the various health authorities, and they will follow that advice as they should. The current advice is that it WILL get loose regardless of what we do. Blanket blaming of the government of this country is ridiculous.
IMHO, internationally China lied the whole time and continues to do so, the WHO publicly believed them, and we are where we are.

If u want to go on an expedition get a Land Rover, if u want to come home from an expedition get a Landcruiser!
At least take people's temperature as they arrive, then require them to have basic medical tests at regular intervals afterwards (say, check them for signs of infection after 1 week, then again at 2 weeks).
If someone has fronted up for a test and is deemed likely to be infected, then letting them wander the streets potentially infecting others seems to be taking a very cavalier attitude to public safety. I realise you have to balance things with an individual's right to freedom, but obviously they are not impressing the seriousness of the situation on these people. Maybe a reminder that if they go supermarket shopping or go to work after being told to self isolate and they turn out to be infected, then they may be charged with "reckless endangerment" of others. The charge has been used in the past when people have knowingly risked infecting others with disease.
Yes - and that's a big problem. It could have been isolated within China if the willpower had been there initially.
