Big jump from delta to omicron, what happened with all the letters in between?
    Why skip xi?
Should have called it Xi to honour where it all began

What I don't get is why are ppl freely traveling to Australia already infected?
I though a negative test result was a requirement BEFORE anybody can fly to our country:

It was already discovered on the 9th of Nov so plenty could have already arrived here by now.

Possible transmissibility of 2-6 times higher than delta is being considered.

On 26 November WHO advised countries not to impose new restrictions on travel. Ha ha, looks like nobody listened to them.

Hmmm....might I suggest that the death rate of the vaccinated could be influenced by the type of people who were vaccinated early in the first place...i.e. the elderly and the vulnerable, who one would expect to die in greater numbers anyway.

    The Ivermectin thing is interesting.

Also there is the "human" factor to consider; i.e "I've been vaccinated so no longer need to wear a mask or be careful around people". Agreed that the Ivermectin thing is interesting, let's hope that it is a cure...
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

I think virus is evolving as predicted - high transmissibility but much more gentle on the host.

because omicron sounds like an evil character from a sci fi movie, much scarier than zeta or eta etc.......

and its all about keeping the masses scared and compliant.......

who cares about the omicron variant, its milder than delta, by all accounts milder than the average flu, even if its more transmissable.........

but that wont stop the next wave of political lockdowns and point scoring......

Only WE could do that, but we won't....

Oh, by the way...OMICRON, an anagram of MORONIC...says it all.

I heard that they are rounding up indigenous people out bush like cattle and jabbing them, with compensation of 500 cash.....

Some are driving from camp to camp and getting multiple jabs for the 500 cash reward....

They just use different names at different camps, they don't carry Id....

One bloke said he'd had 4 jabs so far....

Xi should have really been the next one and it is pronounced X but we don't want to insult der Führer, he might just start a war

    You mean another war.
He is already fighting with India, Australia, Taiwan as well as several African and Pacific Island countries.
World dominance tends to keep him busy.

Apparently WHO about to report that cases of MORONIC are mild at worst and there are NO cases of severe illness.

I wonder if omicron could actually suppress the spread of Covid-19?
Being more transmissible it may hinder the delta variant from spreading just like the alpha variant has seemed to disappear since delta took over.

If it turns out that it does not cause more death than a flu or serious symptoms then that could be the answer.
But the question remains if you can be infected with delta and omicron at the same time.
It looks like the antibodies of former delta infected has little or no effect on omicron, so vaccines may not be as effective as currently assumed with many cases despite double vaccination and this may not be a bad thing if Omicron is indeed relatively harmless.

If that is the case we should stop talking about Covid-19 and look and treat omicron as a different Corana virus.

We will just have to wait until many thousand omicron cases have recovered well with only deaths clearly due to other underlying serious conditions.

Nail on the head here..my daughter was watching something yesterday (I wasn't paying attention to what) where an immunologist who was on Brendan Murphys original panel said much the same thing..

At this stage with what we know, Omicron seemed a perfect vehicle for a natural immune response...
