wont be long now , i got the vaccine about 3 weeks ago and now look like a hairy ape ....nahh i was like that before . Getting the jab was no biggie , i happened to be at the Drs for another issue very late in the afternoon and asked if i could score one while i'm there. He said there were a couple left in the bottle so go fill out and sign a 4 page statement of questions and away i go. He rechecked the paperwork and in i go to see the nurses. The nurses ran through the questions again , i got the jab then had to wait outside for about 20mins till i could drive off. No side effects for me at all , then i go back in 12 weeks for the booster shot.

Survival of the fittest is evolution.
Devolution or De-evolution depending on how you pronounce it is survival via sheer numbers.

The common description is the stupid people outbreed the smart people and stupid genes propagate throughout the population simply because they are more common. Stupid outbreeds and displaces smart. There is no survival advantage if smart and stupid people breed at the same rate and intelligence or lack of it doesn't select or is in some way advantageous or deleterious.

Meanwhile back in the real world, intelligence or lack of it isn't genetic so it isn't genetically selective anymore than wealth influences genetics. There are no rich genes or smart genes. My complaint is natural selection doesn't work fast enough. Stupid people manage to pass their genes on before natural selection catches up with them.

But you might notice that devolution is a method which some viruses employ. HIV is one of those viruses. Coronavirus also does something similar but not so prolific. The trillions of copies of the virus, a lot of them have small genetic errors. Most will do nothing, provide no advantage, or disadvantage or even just not reach a new host. Killing your host is not advantageous, it's not a survival strategy, so while we think of a more deadly virus as some kind of genetic improvement, it's actually the reverse.
HPV might be a slower virus but it is way more successful than coronavirus. It kills less people more slowly and more people carry it. It's a very successful virus.

Devolution is a movement to a lower condition which isn't what is happening. It's actually just diversity. There is no up or down direction to evolution, no better or worse. The more there are of your peeps and the more variation in the population, the harder it is to kill all of them.
If your peeps are too successful and deplete their resources, well then, evolution is going to be a bit more "narrow" in it's selection

The SA Govt has given permission to the Sictorian footballers to come and play here this weekend. Now, of course, they will be "isolated" except when on field, but....
