Downing Street says China faces a 'reckoning' over their handling of coronavirus.

Just wait till the US starts blaming China.

China is taking advantage of this crisis and buying up Australian businesses that are struggling financially or profitable to them.

ScoMo is looking at something to put in place to stop it happening. /bastards

Ummm...no, not as far as I am aware. The National Cabinet (I think it's called) maintains a broad strategy that still is to be acted upon by the Feds and the States according to each parties responsibility. They don't just bypass the constitution to enact this stuff and make it happen overnight, even though many luminaries on this board expect that to happen. That's just crap.

The ridiculous scenes outside Centrelink offices for instance are the result of having to act too quickly over what is a very fluid situation. I know that you think that you could all do better, I understand that. I would be stunned if you were not able to just sit back on a keyboard and find holes. YOU don't actually have to DO anything.

But it takes time to iron out the wrinkles and inconsistencies even in normal (well, formerly normal) times, let alone in this cauldron of uncertainty. I don't know if ANY of us has a clue what the new normal will be.
The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

There will be a certain % of ppl/renters living in a permanent state of bliss for the next 9 months because all the $$ they would have spent on rent goes to the local drug dealer/dan murphy's

There will be more than a few landlords sent to the wall due to these insane 'incentives'

I've just listened to the PMs press conference regarding the 'Job Keeper' stimulus program. I'm amazed, it has elements of a Kevin Rudd half baked scheme. The printing press at the Australian mint will be running red hot, surely.

Interesting...this arrived in today's mail from a local council in QLD:

Looks pretty much like it's happening overnight to me.

Yeah - I remember the crap conspiracy theories that KRudd's stimulus programs we're solely to increase his popularity. Funny shit, but that was a fraction of what's being spent today.

So far these current stimulus programs amount to $320 billion dollars.

Yeah, of course it does. But will it really? Will it work without adjustments. Just like the edicts for social distancing, some will ignore them and go to the beach. You can't arrest them all.

This sh!t takes time even if you yourself don't want to recognise it. Delude all you want. That's fine.

Of course it takes time, my point was simply that these prohibitions from our perspective are basically happening overnight, nothing delusional about that.
Businesses are enacting the restrictions immediately, well they are here anyway, one day we can do things, the next day we can't, it literally changes overnight.

    Will it work without adjustments?
Probably not, and with what seems like the unending human stupidity I've witnessed in the last few weeks I doubt it'll work at all, even with local adjustments.

Personally I'm rather pleased with CV19.
It killed off Greta Thunberg quicker than global warming has.

You’ve got that right. Just watch the GST go up to 15 or 20% and income tax rise later this year to pay for all this. In the meantime, the dollar is falling. On the bright side, this might be the event that finally bursts the housing bubble in Sydney and Melbourne.

Well China should not do this but they are COMMUNIST PIGS. I would not be surprised if China generated this virus on purpose and who care if they killed 2 million of there people that's exceptionable to them, I find this to be repulsive to any country to take advantage of a situation like this but Communist China is Communist China and for the World the World should take their revenges after the Covid -19 has passed. Yes I would say China would like the Weston World to be weaken.

I suppose everyone noticed that merchants like Kogan etc etc etc waited until today, when folks get their $750 support payment, before hoisting ...

You gota wonder about the hype regarding Flattening the Curve.

Surely the law of diminishing returns come into play at some point?

The more people who get the virus the less there are left to get it, of course the curve will flatten.
