It's interesting, people that complain about low wages, also seem to be the same people to lazy to do something about it
Plenty of work out there if your willing.

No point whining about your current rate of pay if your not prepared to do anything about it....

I wouldn't do mining, i like my freedom at night, don't want to be stuck in a donger in bum#### idaho

And before anyone says... Oh that's for men... Nope, plenty of women out there.
Not to mention all the supporting jobs created by the project work... aka "pilot vehicle drivers" getting a fortune for sitting in a vehicle with flashing lights escorting trucks around state. Over time, Travel time, Double Time.... it's all there if you want to change your situation.

This is however different to the Cost of Living....

If you are retired, then the Cost of Living in Australia is high. No two ways about it.

Latest Home Insurance including a few sheds was $8000 a year!!!! Add Council Rates $4000 a year... Power and Water..... And your up for $15,000 a year before you've even put fuel in your car. That is before counting Vehicle Regos, Vehicle Insurances, Monthly Internet Costs, Mobile Phone costs.....

Add a few Toll Road fines, Speeding fines, Late fees, Bank Charges..... It's ridiculous.

Cheers. I did something about my pay by trading on the share market

I think the cost of living says more about our taxes, rents and cash handouts than wages.

IMO, wage rises are reactionary to price inflation rather than the cause thereof.

But shop rents are among the highest in the world - high business taxes don't help either.

Where? My son needs a job. $5k a week, he'd be laughing. The best he's ever been able to earn is about half that!

    PM sent

Is he prepared for 12 hour days and a 13 day fortnight?
And most likely living away from home (which is all paid for, as is the vehicle and fuel)

EDIT: 1 hour after PM sent, no reply. I think i see why people struggle to find work

Only just saw this. Son does not live with me, and I haven't said anything about this yet.

I agree, there is work if you are prepared to get off your bum and look. When I was working I was never out of work for more than a day. One job, I handed in my resignation (their policy was finish on the spot) and time I got home there was a mate sitting at my kitchen table waiting for me to go out to work with him. Another time I told him I was finishing two days later than I was, just to get some work done around the house.

Even when I moved "south", medically, I was only permitted to work part time. I was offered several full time positions, all of which I had to turn down because I knew what effect that would have on me. Eventually the psych that I had been seeing convinced me that I was better off not working. When I ran that past the specialist who had seen me after the accident, he said, "I've been waiting for you to come to that decision. If I had told you that, you would have ignored me".

Daniel is certainly not afraid of hard work, he used to clean up houses after murders and such. His only issue might be time away from his family, he loves the time he spends with his wife and kids. I'll run it past him, and if he is interested I'll fire off his resume.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

I think back to when I left home
1st job in 1977, $60 a week in hand packing super market shelves, Rent on a studio apartment $30 pw petrol around 60c a liter and lucky for me I got cheap food.
I could not see it happening now the same studio apartment is now $285pw and that's the best part of a shelf packers pay let alone food, fuel, power etc etc.
Death smiles at everyone. Grumpy old men smile back.

Not against Tatts per se but I know they are not cheap and some ( many ) of these people that seem to be in a position of least affording them are walking round with 10K of ink on them. No doubt all taxpayer funded.
I doubt being covered in tatts improves their chances of Employment. Maybe that's why they get them?

ive just described the couple next door by the way.... he is an abo who wouldnt even know what work was , and she is his carer for some unknown invisible bullshit condition. 4 kids [/QUOTE]

Apart from the abbo part, also well describes my POS step brother and his wife.
The only time he gets a job is to feign a bad back and embezzle or steal from the place. He AND the equal waste of Oxygen wife have both been convicted 3 times each of offences relating to stealing or embezzlement from their employers and been dismissed without any action being taken after being caught out on at least another 2 occasions I know of.

She - Supposedly- had MS and had various crowd funding appeals to go to Russia for treatment. She went but managed an extra 3 weeks holiday on the way there and back. Had other fundraisers that were clearly rigged ( best friend winning car raffle when the draw was done in private and not witnessed by anyone) but their key earner was having 4 Kids while they lived in a 1 room holiday shack.

Of course now the shack has been GREATLY improved thanks to the " Kindness" ( Suckers) in the local community that donated money, materials and skills. I'll give the cow this, she knows how to work social media to get a shitload she does not deserve. Someone (not me unfortunately) Put up the newspaper clipping of her court appearances and the storys on her farcebook page during one of these bleeding heart appeals which were shortly taken down. She did get a lot of flack over it but somehow managed to turn that around into an even bigger sympathy earner and get even more people backing her and accusing the person of wanting to take her down and being a hater and everything else. All they did was post the pages of the local rag that featured the story on her court appearances.

Latest scam is to fein they have separated. She got a nice house in town thanks to being an " abused " woman/ parent / whatever which she claimed but the stupidity is he is there every day. He also gets over $750 a fortnight for looking after kids he does not have. Know that for a fact when I picked up some garbage blowing up the street before Christmas and found a recent statement.

These people are professional scum and bludgers but she particularly, now no one in town will think about giving them a Job even if they did want one, knows how to work the system and peoples soft side. In 2018 They went on 4 holidays around the country, 1 in WA, 2 in Qld and one in Melbourne, flying there and staying in luxury accommodation and posted pics of them dining in nice restaurants etc and the facewaste idiot followers were all praising them and saying how much they deserved a holiday given all the difficulties they had..... Like raising 4 brats in a single room shack..... Yeah, maybe people genuinely doing it hard through no fault of their own might deserve a Holiday after some years but 4 in ONE year each a fortnight or more? Makes me sick.

Dad and I see articles about them in the local rag and on the net and don't know whether to laugh or cry at the bullshit we read and the Gullibility of people. We have tried to set things straight with the local rag and TV station and they don't want to know. The same rag that has so many times reported their court appearances and made them front page for stealing large amounts from local businesses are the same Flucktards that then turn around and herald them as poor hard done bys and promote their scam fundraisers. It's beyond belief. Stepbrother also has a long criminal record of Violence but never any mention of his numerous convictions for that either. Seemed to escape jail on the last one with a sob story about having to help looking after the 4 Kids under 6 Yo.

Unsurprisingly, Her eldest to some other fatherS, have followed the same path. One was Jailed a few months after turning 18. The other showed some promise after getting into trouble a few times by joining the navy but was licked out after less than a year and then wound up in more trouble with the cops although we don't know what for or the outcome. All the cops fault for Picking on him unfairly of course. Says it right on her face waste page.

We have dobbed them in for different things where they are getting money under false pretences or running scams ( and they don't go to great lengths to hide it!) and months later I get a reply, whoever concerned investigated, found there were " issues" but have counselled them and made them aware of the rules and won't be taking any action because they believe the problem is not likely to re occur.
Yeah well I spose there is only so many times you can rip the local community off for 30 and 80k and get away with it before you have to come up with a new ploy.

They have been evicted from 3 rentals we know of and were ordered to pay over 10K for damages they did to one brand new home they moved into. She did the poor Single parent thing ( weren't officially married then even though living together) and was ordered to pay $3 a week back to the owner. No exaggeration, $3 a week. Some months later she was laughing to my father when she saw him at the shops she only paid it erratically for a few months then didn't pay anything at all and ignored the letters and demands and never heard any more about it.

These deadheads know one thing and that's how to work the system and play it like a Stradivarius and some how, no matter what they do wrong , the money just keeps coming.
They aren't the only ones, far from it but that's where a LOT of our taxes go to supporting low life mongerals like these 2.
Statistics show ( and seem to be accurate) that the greatest likelihood is the kids will grow up with the same mentality and behaviour.
