    Default Computer Help

    Hello all,

I need help selecting one of the below. We are on a tight budget and need a computer to assist with our studies at university (Its my wife and myself who will be using it).

We both have laptops (me a Chromebook) - need something i can access the full MS Word on and something we can do online exams and have multiple tabs open when doing assignments.

Which one of the below tow would be best?

    HP All-in-One 24-f0036a
    Lenovo IdeaCentre A340 23.8" AIO F0E6000UAU

    Thanks for your help!

    depends on the actual specifications
a ssd drive will give best performance
if none in both probably whichever has the most ram, as in 2gb, 4gb or 8gb
the cpu will only be a 2 core in those anyway id say.

edit, wasnt logged in, the lenovo as its cheaper & still has 8gb ram

both of those are all in ones

myself i would be looking at a tower setup so i could run aleast a dual
    screen setup.

i know when i am studying or doing work it is so much better
with a dual screen because it makes it easier to look at the other
monitor that has information on it.

    I personally have a 3 monitor setup.

id go for something like this and grab a 2nd monitor from gumtree

comes with a dual hdd setup ssd for os and 1tb normal had for backup etc

    Dual screen rocks.
I would get a proper laptop and a second 24" screen.
You need your laptop at UNI too.

If you are on a a tight budget I would get a refurbished laptop from the business class range like this Dell Latitude:

That leaves you 200 bucks left for the external 24" screen so you can run dual screen.

Have a look at the govt auctions, you can usually pick up a reasonable specced machine for next to nothing. All you would need to do then is source Windwoes (if it isn't already running) and Orifice. I agree with the last two comments, too. Dual monitors at a minimum makes things so much easier. You can have a reference on one screen whilst your work is on the other.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

thats becoz all-in-1's are a pain in the ass to work on, upgrade etc

no joke, ive bought a few of these
8gb ram, ssd, $235, buy a monitor, 160 for 27 inch, cheering, theyre clean, checked, even warranty

i can give you one for nicks but by the time i put in a ssd, more ram, & $50 post, works out dearer.
