    Default Old Ness D-8

Guys, I have followed instructions on here to obtain the old master code and successfully entered my new user code. Thanks. Keypad indicates that I am able to enter program mode. Tamper lead is connected to panel. My problem is the system will not accept new user PINs. I have deleted old users. I know P12E is currently empty but I cannot replace with another user code. When I enter new POM I get a long beep, same when I enter it a second time. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks Rick

Codes on this panel can't start with a zero as the first digit. That might be your issue.

Are you doing it from user mode - program light On or
Installer mode - program light flashing

Depending on the model D8 user 2 might be location 202 and not 12.

May post up a pic off the keypad.

Hi, I don't seem to have permission to add attachments in response in this forum. The keypad only has indicator lights, not any LEDs or screen so I assume it is quite old. It has a model indication of KP-D8.
I did read not to put a leading zero in any code, so that is not the issue.
I powered down, opened the cabinet, and then powered back up. I was able to change the 'master code' after entering P11E and getting the last code. It seems to accept my new 'master code' as when I enter PxxxxE as it enters program mode (the program light stays lit solid). From that point on if I enter P12E and try and program a new user code it just gives a solid beep, not the three beeps it should after the new code is entered the second time. I tried P12E ME to empty the current user...that seemed to emty the previous user as the fob no longer arms/disarms the system.
Could the original installer have prevented user reprogramming? Is it possible to factory default the alarm or should I get a call out from the installer? The other option is just replacing the entire unit with an upgrade (D8x). I was going to keep the old unit if it functions ok as I will also be adding internal web cams as an additional layer. Appreciate thoughts. Thanks and regards, Rick

You sure the code you want to add is not already in there under a different user?
Or try adding it to a different user number.
