    Default New One To Me

Now, I seldom buy meat from Woolies. I have a local market that gets nearly all of my business.

But I find it a tad surreal that they get away with this.....

The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

I would imagine the e symbol is used so that the packer does not need to weigh each pack but probably uses volume to determine the correct quantity, but a 500g pack that only contains 262g is a rip off +- 10 grams one would think. Probably packed by a machine and this was the last one off the line, or was it? Could be an on going scam.

No saying the woman's story is actually true. On the other hand maybe it was packed before the water injection.

If Woolworths can now sell you 47.6% of the labelled weight of something, then there's not really much point in having a National Measurement Institute any more is there. Retailers can just do what they like.

Woolies(and probably others) want to pay share holders dividends so they will always find all kind of sneaky tricks to cut costs.

However it can work both ways.
I have always compare weighed things in my hand, if one packet seems a bit heavier I will take it.
I am quite skilled at that.
Once I 'hand weighed' a 500g Brie Cheese in Aldi and checked at home, it was over 700g.

BTW Wollies used to have customer scales in the vege department, don't shop there anymore so don't know if they still have.

Taking a small set of pocket scales when shopping might be a wise move.
Would also be interesting to see how many of these estimated weights come up short and how many , if any, are over weight.
I know which way I'd be betting the majority of them come up.

They will probably be trying to pull another shopping bag scam before long and tell us short changing products is good for the " Environment" when it would be the same sort of profit increasing measure.

Not too many years ago, when the only viable place to buy meat @ a cost I could afford was either coles or woolies, I got to the stage were I lost all confidence in my ability to cook ANY type of meat adequately, as in being edible, the quality was always $hite

Now that I buy all edible goods.......meat, fruit and veg. from Gilberts (most of the 'food' sold @ coles/woolies is NOT edible IMHO) I've found that damn near everything I cook is 100%

Meat is ~20% more expensive but fruit and veg is 10~20% cheaper and is OK in the crisper for a month.......yes, a month

Trouble is I'll have to go on a diet soon if I'm not careful after being skinny my whole life

    Default What about me (Coles)

    Hi all,

Make sure you don't forget about Coles.

They delivered loose (hand picked) potatoes in my last delivery, six spuds, three were already soft and starting to sprout.

I rang and complained on Wednesday (the delivery was on Monday).

The obnoxious female turd on the help line told me there would be NO refund as Coles policy regarding potatoes is they only have a TWO DAY EXPIRY PERIOD which I had already reached.

When spuds go soft and bad within two days, why do I buy from Coles? because being housebound I depend on delivery. Coles minimum free delivery is $150 and woolies is $300.

    Aint life wunderbar

    Luv and kisses to all.

PS if you can afford it, do NOT shop at the big boys rip off stores.

Buy cheap and pay often, - there is no substitute for stupidity.

You wipe your bum after each crap, why don't you clean your teeth after every meal?

There is no shame in being uneducated nor in being stupid.
The true shame lies in knowing that you are and doing nothing about it.

They still do here...at least at my local Woollies they do.

Hahahaha..I got clobbered by the recent big hail storm here and have house damage. I replaced the five smashed roof tiles, but they are old and it's almost impossible to get more. I sourced some interstate and took a broken tile down to Woollies to see how much it weighed so I could figure out how many I could carry. The looks I got were priceless.

Regarding the E symbol on woolies meat it's also on Don products, Tim Tam biscuits,Mainland Cheese,Bega Cheese,Masterfoods sauces and I would say anything sold by weight.

I usually take any prepacked meat to the produce section and use the scales there to check
