Telegraph (Miranda Divine) reports of fines up to $1.1 million (via ACCC process) dollars for businesses who claim to customers that price increases are the result of the carbon tax.

What do you think is an appropriate punishment for businesses that deliberately bullshit & exploit customers for financial advantage?

You can paint it up all you like but in the end it is just predicting on the basis of the past. And the past is really only record keeping for a few hundred years (and that's being generous). It's all just based on models and theories.
How about 1000 years. Based on measurable facts, from multiple sources. By the University of Melbourne.

1,000 years of climate data confirms Australia's warming

May 17, 2012 By Alvin Stone
1,000 years of climate data confirms Australia?s warming

In the first study of its kind in Australasia, scientists used 27 natural climate records to create the first large-scale temperature reconstruction for the region over the past 1,000 years.

The study led by researchers at the University of Melbourne, used a range of natural indicators including tree rings, corals and ice cores to study Australasian temperatures over the past millennium. They then compared these with climate model simulations.

Dr. Stephen Phipps, a researcher with UNSW’s Climate Change Research Centre and the Centre of Excellence for Climate System Science led the climate model simulation research. He said the results showed there were no other warm periods in the past 1,000 years that match the warming experienced in Australasia since 1950.

“Our study revealed that recent warming in a 1,000-year context is highly unusual and cannot be explained by natural factors alone, suggesting a strong influence of human-caused climate change in the Australasian region,” Dr. Phipps said.

comprehensively discredited by Tim Lambert a computer scientist at the University of NSW. Surely you can see how rediculous that is. As far as I can determine there is no qualification that makes you a climate scientist. The climate science field draws from many established sciences (meteorology, geology, physics, chemistry, biology, oceanography, mathematics , in fact probably most of them ) So for Tim Lambert to discredit Dave Evans would be like the pot calling the kettle black. Anyway with the Carbon Tax about to start the problem has been solved.

    Read again what I wrote.
Record keeping, meaning real data written down and recorded.
No models or simulations. Nothing left to interpretations.

You know, I don't care who says what about global warming anymore, I just look outside.

We just had some crazy extreme temperature drop in the tropics a few days ago something like 10 degrees below average. Now I know this is "weather" and not "climate" but my brain doesn't recognise the difference when I've picked up the flu from the temperature shock.

Where can I get some more carbon to release into the atmosphere? I hate the cold.

    Repeat a lie often enough...
Weather IS climate. A few cold days in one place has a small effect yes but it all counts!
Australia has always gone through many changes. Anything from fierce bushfires that erase every living thing to 12 feet deep and flowing fast is NORMAL!
    "I love a sunburnt country,
    A land of sweeping plains,
    Of ragged mountain ranges,
    Of droughts and flooding rains."
This cold however is not just one small event in one place.
There is no La Nina for them to hide behind this time.

    Clear cut simple cooling!
    Uh Oh Oooops!

Thats why they changed the name to "Climate Change" instead. If the weather changes, they can claim they are right

I have had plenty of rain at my place this year after a fairly try decade previously. Which goes to show one thing.....the weather does change So climate change is correct !

It all still keeps coming back to the same question that no one can answer

Normal for the planet is change & the planet doesn't care, long after we're gone it will still be a rock revolving around the sun, unless it gets hit by something big or the sun explodes.

Humans care what is normal for sustainable life, even more important is comfortable life, that's the problem, we have been in an easy climate for our lives, however it wasn't this easy for our ancestors, change is inevitable & humans are scared.

The dinosaurs had it easy they didn't suffer from the anxiety of speculation.
    Cheers, Tiny

No, it is what is normal for the "this" planet?

Everyone just assumes that the earth exists just for humans. Who is to say that we are not just a passing fad, like the dinosaurs and later when the earth reaches 90 degree's Celsius some other life form will inhabit the earth.
