    Default Need a TV repairman

Had a thunderstorm yesterday add had a lightning strike very close to the house mabe even striking some part of it resulting in damage to 3 tvs a HDMI splitter and perhaps more ( checking everything today)

6 month old 75" Samsung was one casualty, contacted Samsung and they are sending someone to look at it.

Have 2 Kogan tvs out of warranty that wont turn on, both have a red standby light but wont turn on, hit the switch but the light just stays red and nothing happens

If I pull the back off is there something to look for/test etc ??

    thanks Thomo

I'd get an Electrical Contractor to write a report

    Claim on Insurance

Keep Historical Weather Observations and have the Lightning Tracker App, you can record the strikes near your house

Kogan have a power-cycle routine they say is worth doing --

    1. Unplug it from the main power socket and leave it for 10-15 minutes.
    2. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    3. Connect it back to the power and turn it on.
This will complete the power cycle process

Probably not that simple, but seeing as you have red standby light it'd be the first thing to try.

Some good news Samsung TV has been fixed under warranty.I rang Samsung Wedensday, Premium repair services ( ) contacted me late that night, arrived yesterday and all done.

Got to love that. The bloke from Premium was great and I would use them again for products in or out of warranty.

That's pretty much standard fix these days ; identify faulty board, replace. Sound practice in cases of lightning strike.
