some of them are ridiculous ,like the dick in nth QLD who wants to ban Internal Combustion engines , but others have got some merit ,like cutting funding to the LGAQ and increasing funding for the Bruce Highway.

Did you notice the numbers breakdown? That's really funny, which one is leading in signatures...but at the same time, they're paltry numbers all in all...can't imagine these petitions/polls carrying much weight (I say 'poles', because the moment you let the internet know about things like this, results becomes skewed =)

Lol, yeah I noticed the current winner too.
If the petition signature numbers ever got to the high tens of thousands or into the hundreds of thousands there'd be votes to be had then, and then these types of petitions might make a difference.
Otherwise it will just be as it is now, a formality to have them there.
And as usual, like everything else the people try to get across to these parasites, they will be ignored.

I thought it might have been some site cashing in on the rabble rousers by selling advertising or something similar.

I guess it's a way for the Gubbermint to let people vent and feel the gubbermint are taking them seriously.

well , i was told that our local MP wont even discuss an issue till it reaches 500 signatures or so , which in a small town would be a reasonable number.
