Default Different versions of OS on same machine get different internet speeds

On this machine I have, what is known as frugal installs of, Puppy 4.3.1, 5.2.8, 5.7.1 and BionicPup.

I have run some speedtest.net tests on each of these. The really interesting upshot of the tests is that the version of the OS affects the internet speeds. I assume the only variable is the driver in each OS.

I found this to be rather interesting given the "bragging rights" that speedtest.net seems to create.

Interesting...is oldest to newest the slowest to fastest?
Though I guess it's possible there might be some settings differences, sometimes default settings can change between different versions.

    No.

5.2.8 and 5.7.1 are about the same (fastest) then BionicPup and last 4.3.1.

Thinking about it since I wonder if kernel version also affects the speeds.

You may well be best asking those questions in the puppy linux forums.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Not a question - just an observation and maybe create some discussion.

Make sure ping is same in each test for accurate results. Also browsers should be same in each test, otherwise wasting your time. Speed tests can vary within minutes using same o/s so not accurate to draw conclusions. Just be happy that Barry Kauler & others have spent lots of time to give us puppy linux-enjoy!

    I concur with all that.

Some people get very anxious about variations in speed test results, but there are many variables involved as you have pointed out.

... and now for something completely different.

Just run a speed test using my Tab S using the same router but 5GHz wifi. Download speed 66% faster than my LAN connected PC.
