Map updates for 2015 onwards Toyota Nav systems

I have a corolla with the built in satnav.
I believe it was a $1000 extra feature (bought car second hand)

I am trying to update maps and bypass Toyota of course since their maps are often old.
The car I purchased is a 2017 model but the maps are 2015 Q4 so its pretty ordinary to say the least.
I was able to overwrite all the maps to 2019 Q4 on Micro SD card ( the files, structure are very similar to other units) but this has absolutely no effect.
It would appear the SD card is only for updating the Head unit.

It has some other files which state the licence FTEN_13CY_AUS_TOY@15Q4 (lyc file)
I cannot read info in it, here is a snippet.

Does anyone know if I can read it instead of as a txt files

There is a MAPVER text file with 13TOY_AU15Q4 in it.
I am guessing if it sees a different number in here it "may" then update head unit maps.

FYI they recently did a major update via cloud?/ phone and changed many features, (some good, some bad) but the unit has on e major flaw.
It does not do speed at all.
Any help would be appreciated.

Short answer is no, there is no known way out in the public to update the maps in those Toyota systems - unless you purchase the original Toyota maps.
