Default Australia Sues Facebook over data breech

It might be time for a class action against the Australian Govt to get our slice of the action.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

The closing stanza of that make me chuckle...

We don’t have information on the proceedings of the case but from what it looks like, $529 Billion, if slapped to Facebook, would be the biggest fine for any tech company.
While we doubt this will be the case, it’s good to see regulatory bodies holding companies accountable for their mistakes.

So they have no information on proceedings, only *if* the case is won and FB are slapped with that fine will it be the biggest fine slapped on a tech company, and then they point out they doubt that will actually happen.
If it doesn't actually happen like they suppose, then exactly how are companies like this being held accountable for their 'mistakes' (that's polemical for sure), if they don't actually end up being fined?

I hope they succeed - we could pay off our entire Govt debt with that fine

I also wonder about the scope of the position citing the damages as 'x' dollars per aussie FB user ~ one wouldn't necessarily need to be a FB subscriber/user, to somehow also incur damages due to such data breaches.
