How do you find the time, Wotnot. I wish I had half the time that you've spent on these blokes. Therein lies the problem. You may get some "free lights", but is your time worth the effort?
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Oh, you can buy time on ebay, and get a refund if any hour is not exactly 3600seconds long =)

Seriously speaking, and somewhat ironically, it only takes about as much time as it does to run your own ebay store...with no item listings. As I mentioned before, it's more effort to contribute to this thread, than it actually is to do the do. It appears easy & quick, but do understand this is the culmination of 10+ years study of the animal, so a lot of what I come up with is nearly autonomic in a sense ... I'm following tried & tested strategies, and you really, really, haven't any idea of how much cut&pasting I do, from the same script book ; hint: cutting & pasting requires little effort .. markings on the control + c & v keys are the most worn here on this splatterplank =)

I have been asked that many times over the years with different things I have done and never really understood it.

To me it infers that even waking moment should be put to some paid work. Maybe some people work that hard but I never have.
With this I look and might type some responses when I get up and am having my coffee and breakfast. Then I'll go out and may come back a couple of hours later for another Coffee and send another reply. Same for lunch and in the evenings. I come in and I'm buggered. all I want to do is sit on my wide arse, and take it easy. My flebag buying and resolutions is done in my leisure time. I don't get paid for sitting round and I don't watch TV but I do look at YT and forums a lot. They don't pay a lot either unless I am uploading to my YT channel.

Doing this is far better paid than sitting on my arse watching TV or looking on the net so I don't get the position that this is taking valuable time and questioning " If it is worth it"?
It does not cut into my paid work in any way. I am in fact profiting out of this a lot more than any other leisure time activity. In that respect, doing this is 'Worth" far more than anything else I do relaxing. I am mainly enjoying it and if I get those lights I ordered and save myself $750 or a significant part of it in the process, You bet your arse it's worth it!

I am not up to Wotnots cut and paste level but I'm getting there. Even my written responses are becoming much quicker because I know where I want to go and what I want to say.
I don't get paid for writing shit here as does no one else either but no one asks " Is it worth my time" even though it's the self same thing as writing ebay messages.

My BIL always used to carry on about me doing veg oil. Not worth my time, how much does it save me, he had better things to do..... Blah Blah. You would think I was making him do it for me.

One day I got jack of it and knowing I'd have to put up with... see him the next day and probably hear the same shit, I sat down and worked out what it was worth to me.
Pretty easy to show the time I was putting into it was worth over $1200 a day to me in saved fuel costs. My set up costs were covered in 1 batch oil oil/ fuel I processed and my individual batch costs I put at $1 which was over the top for the sub KW Of power I used and the $8 Filter I replaced every 10 Batches. ( 2000L)

Printed it all out and when someone asked me about it and he started, I said well you got me thinking about that and handed him the paper from my pocket. He looked and scoffed at the $1200 a day. I went through it and asked what part he found questionable? He had lined me up some of my oil sources so knew the collection times and rough amounts. He had seen me run the processor and had seen the time that required ( load, walk away then come back when it was done, empty and reload ) and the value of the oil against bought fuel wasn't in dispute and I put that conservatively. He couldn't dispute a time/ costing I gave.

Other BIL, the big time accountant asked if he could see what I wrote out and after a quick look said this is wrong. I asked why.
He said you are taking into account the value of your time in making the fuel but you have not accounted properly for buying fuel as others do. He said you have to allow for your hourly earnings to be taxed to buy fuel which you do not have to do so therefore it's worth 30% more to you straight off the bat than what you have allowed here.

He looked at other BIL and said are you earning over $1500 a Day in hand because if you are not, his oil caper is making him a lot more than I think your day job is earning you.

    Tsssss Slam Dunk!

For some reason I have NEVER heard him whinge about it since.

Hobby's and leisure activities usually COST people Money. This ( and the oil) is something I do by choice in my spare time. Anything that makes anyone anything is well ahead of the game and is an earner not a cost.

So far the satisfaction and learning has been worth a lot more to me than the material things gained. My attitude and approach has changed thanks to the wisdom of others and the fact my outlook has changed shows something significant in itself as far as education goes.

I am smart enough to remember and apply it to more things in the future than just this Tiddly winks.

Yep, that's it. I'd probably add from my own personal perspective ; if like me you don't watch teevee, don't read newspapers or have anything to do with mass media, and your 'social media' interactions are limited to a few SMS messages a week, and a forum such as this.. you will be surprised just how much you can educate yourself about something, and how much time you have to enact that education.

As said, after a while, this all punctuates itself, typically based by timezone & business hours in various locales. Dealing with ebay directly can be a pain, because typically they work on a 1hour turn-around...and so me giving them jip the other night, meant staying up longer than usual, just to maintain the continuity of the communication.

Example - out mowing the lawn this arvo ...doing that (takes an hour) is time I spend thinking about what exactly I'm going to do about Mr. No Faking Worries...because quite obviously, I am going to need get them remove that offending image myself... this, will be fun =)

Incidentally, once you become adept at following an electronic paper-trail, there's always time to look deeply into something, as if it were being a diversion from {ahem} 'ebay buyer work'.

I just finished roughly quantifying the size of that operation, behind the seller who sold me that electronics kit. Best I can figure it, they have between 1,000 ~ 1,200 individual online stores, and that's -not- counting their ebay/ali presence. They buy their domain names from here -> ..they are the entity behind this -> ...and the site of theirs I found to reference the 'real' kit pricing, checks out like this ->

Kind of figured I was dealing with a big player, just because they were able to get ahold of that inhouse rar archive ...you need to be a long way up the predator chain usually, to get access to docs like that.

    Case closed ; I'm glad I chose eBay 8)

    Ditto.
Life is so much better without all that mind numbing, braindead crap isn't it.
Mention that to some people and they look at you like you're committing a serious crime in front of them

I watched my 6 months allocation of TV the other Night when I watched the Movie Forrest Gump with the Mrs.. I don't know if I'd call it my favourite Movie, lot in that close to the heart and painful but it is the most significant movie to me. I used to say I watched less than an hour of TV a week. Mrs and daughter says I don't even watch an hour a Month which is actually true. People will be talking about something and I'll say " Is that a TV show?" and yeah, you get the look all right.

The one I get all the time is people asking " Did you see on facebook...?"

NO, I did not. I really only have anything to do with that at one period a year to organise a Memorial and that is about it. The rest of the time I avoid it. The shit people put on it, even otherwise Intelligent people astounds and frustrates me no end. For some though, it's their whole world. Not just the postings but putting up vids, Chatting on their crappy facility to do that, watching news snippets etc. Don't even get me started on all the other endless rubbish SM like Twits, snapcrap and all the others that seems to endlessly come and go I can't even keep up with.

I do spend a lot of time on YT.
I have taught myself so much from that and Forums. Most of my last business initiatives I have Picked up from there and seen on forums and they have worked well.
Yt pays me every month and I have earned a lot from it over the years. I can watch what I want when I want and there is a lot more interesting things on it than any TV, free, paid or otherwise.

Something breaks down or there is a job to do around the place and you can look it up on YT and even if you don't see the thing you specificity need to repair, you can always get a better idea of how to approach it and a head start is a lot better than working it out yourself quite often.

The other thing I get with my different proclivities is " How do you learn all this stuff? where do you find the time to work all this out?"
Well instead of filling my head with pre scripted bullshit with a more inaccurate Description than 200W lights that only produce 6W, I don't watch " Reality" tv for one. How many hours is one season of one show of that crap? 15 hours? I can learn a lot in that time.

Should be a BIIIG ebay week this week.

I understand the hobby bit. I have many "hobbies" am retired so everything is a "hobby". I've saved us a small fortune on various trades because I do have the time to do stuff that never got done when I worked.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Should be a BIIIG ebay week this week.
I'm looking forward to it as well, going to be interesting for sure. Our favourite 'my partner make mistake' light seller, has been spared from feeling my branding iron for a little while, so go hard -- I'll circle back later and clean them up...I've got another focus...2 actually ..so I'm going to spend a bit of time on something else here. In the meantime, I'll continue the 48W light buy-up, one unit at a time, to maintain my stated MO...it's best not to slip out of character.. just like Zooty.

I'm glad that the thread topic has been created so ... 'Dealing with *some* Ebay sellers!'... I'm going to expand the scope of that ; are not these ebay 'agents' I'm dealing with via customer support, *also* sellers? Of course they are - they're selling ebay =) The scripting for ebay direct contact is all over the place, because every email/message you send, is answered by a different agent. As you've seen, each agent replies a little differently, but the underlying current, is that contained in the ebay guidelines & policies.

So...reload of the Mr no faking worries listing this morning - image still there. I have to conclude, going by the previous assurance that investigations take 6-24hours to complete, that said process has finished, and I'm merely unable to see the ramifications of their actions.

"Most reports are reviewed within 6 to 24 hours. If you don't see any action on your end by then, please understand that many actions aren't visible to others. To protect the privacy of all of our members, we're unable to share the action we take."

That's what was written, right? Oh...btw, if you're trying to work out who you're dealing with at customer support, with normal/trainee 'agents', they usually pop a feedback email to your inbox "How did we do?" type survey thing ; with senior or supervisory agents, you never get that email...just a hint =)

    Begs the question, what exactly is going on? Well, I saw the line come in reply, but I had to wait some time to see if I read it properly ; if I did, I should *expect* that they've done nothing...why? This line ;

"Please do send us the lists so we can finally investigate and forward the details to the Account Specialist team"

How many readers of this, are familiar with software development and 'bug tracking' systems? Any? Re-read the above line, as if looking at a bug ticket you've submitted.

The more correct way to look at this, is the ebay agents are 'moderators', and the bug itself has not been assigned a priority yet, and nor has it been brought to the attention of the head developer, the "Account Specialist team" The particular wording that alerts you to this, is "so we can finally investigate and forward the details" ....so, this is an 'open' ticket that won't be investigated nor forwarded to the account specialist team, until I've finished providing the 'list' of ebay sellers involved with this shonky 48W light scam going on...I mean, lets face it, I could keep adding to that list, ad infinitum.

I will have to do something about that...maybe Wednesday 'coz that affords reasonable time for them to do something, contact the seller, request immediate takedown of the false/faked ebay 'no faking worries' campaign BS.

Also, I have to prepare the latest 'one shot' attempt, and sometime today create a LED light testing video using multimeter and car battery... nice low tech approach =)

    As always, the game continues...

The Courier Just arrived... confirming the 1 and 2/35 addresses and the different names.

Left 3 Light bars and a pair of HID's.

I'm going to put my DC power meter in a nice little box to make it look a bit more professional and I'll Video the thing being taken out the box and put straight on the meter and a couple of Multimeters showing and confirming amps and voltage.

I would like another of those Jump starter packs even just as handy power sources. I did look, again, at the RC type packs but I'd need a charger for them and they are more mucking around. If I can find a reasonable capacity meter and if the jumper packs don't turn out to be as advertised, then they are a far cheaper alternative. I also might have to buy a bunch to find one that is legit and can be trusted.

I bought 3 of thse a few years back and they were really good. I bought 2 for my Dad to use in his wrecking yard. I was there when they arrived and I unpacked one, took it to a car with no battery and it amazed the hell out of us starting the thing that had sat 6 months with no trouble. It repeated the party trick several times with no probs.
He used that thing 10 times a day for about 3 years before it got a bit sad then started using the other one. The first one was still great for taking round to wind down windows, move seats , test radios etc without having to lug a 20 Kg battery around. Even on a trolley they are much harder work over the rough ground than something that fits in your pocket.
I can't see any of the same style to buy again.

I used mine a lot too for starting mowers and chippers etc and the occasional Vehicle. Was a great power and charging source for portable gear and I could run my laptop all day between it's own battery and the power pack. My Uncle got some BIG ones that he put in his tourist Coaches that went outback. Compared to the batteries they normally carried they were a fraction of the size and weight and they DID start the Big Cummins and Cats with no problem. They weren't cheap but they were worth it.

I found this power meter I thought might be good for the job. There are others that have the dummy load built in but I can easy hook this up to some H4 Bulbs or short a Mosfet on a heatsink with fan through a PWM controller as is the basis for some of the dummy load testers I saw.

I also have one of these meters I spose I could use as that shows Wh and is what I will use to test the lights with.

I got notification that the 48W lights from our favourite seller have been posted.
Are they going to get hit this week! One light bar and the HIDS also came from them then there will be these 6 Lights that I thought they would have made sure were real 48W lights seeing they put the price up more than double and are advertising them as " New" which I take to be a new and proper 48W Batch.

Waiting to hear back from my solar controller seller and see how they are going to tackle the Vids they can't see. If they don't relent, I'll simply get fleabag involved and I know how that will go. I'm still really not understanding why they have their computers set up so they can't see what they need to in order to do the job they are there for?
Any suggestions as to what to do if they come back asking me to mail them direct again? Already said multiple times if they are unable to fix it I know ebay can but they can't seem to figure that blunt hint out either.

Geez, How many store fronts does our favourite seller have??

Just looking at the labels on the light bars they looked familiar. Checked return address and they are the same.

That's another store front I have bought from under the same people! 3 now. Seems if it's anyone selling lights and the location is Regents park, It's them.

First tier is kinda like playing Gin Rummy or Snap... 2nd tier is more akin to cut-throat 500...3rd tier , and not many players go there, is when you're wedging yourself between the accc & ebay...if you wanna play the big hardball game, that's it. I don't wanna go there =)

Of course, the one-shot attempt has to happen tonight ~ if I dally, someone will wonder why, especially when I've been told by customer service 'do it now' more or less ~ bought myself a day's grace with mention of having to get photos together, all good.

To that end, just upped the latest LED light test video in preparation.. tick a note here that ebay agents -can- see image links and YT vids, at least last time I checked they could [check again]

If you listen closely, when the light is energized, there's a distinct high freq. buzz going on ; it's the DMM at the back measuring voltage ...the bucks in these lights are woeful in this respect, and huge amounts of switching noise appears on the DC input lines...ugly =)

Now I have to go make some verbal icing for the one-shot attempt -- this is a new script, I've never been dealt the bird before from tier 2...

Testing done, pretty much as expected.

The 100W HID lights came in at more than I thought, 52W. Pretty crap light though. The things take a good 5 sec to get any brightness and probably 20 Sec to stabilise. Not going to be great when you see something ahead and want to verify what it is before you get there. Beam is pretty shithouse. Hollow spot with a hot spot on the bottom. They look the part but that's about their best asset. I don't think I'd even give these away to anyone I liked enough to give anything to.
Bit of a lesson though. I haven't had much to do with HID's. Have them in one of the cars but they react totally different to these.... unsurprisingly.
The Big round LED's are obviously going to be the better tech but I hoped these would be more long range.

180W light bar came in bang on 100W. This has a very good pattern actually and seems to throw Good light. Nice round centre beam with good spread either side. This is a very useful Light. Very heavy, seems well made. Probably going to have a better throw than the HID's and definitely a better pattern. This one is definitely a Keeper. Might get a couple more.
give them a proper back yard test tonight.

22" 280w light bars ( ordered 2) came in at a whole 40W. Just a little shy of the claimed output! Again, not a bad light, even flood pattern but I think will have decent reach as well. Came with a wiring kit and decent brackets. These were from the l3ko8 store front. They may be good backyard lights.

The light bars are pretty good. The HIDs are crap. I'll wait and see how they look at night but not expecting much. I'm more than expecting when I say they are 52W the come back will be they are 100W a PAIR but that's not at all what the ad says. They also sell the same light Individually as 100W so that shoots that down too.

Sent the solar controller people another email saying I hadn't heard back from them, did they get my last message with the links I sent again and would they prefer me to take the problem up direct with Ebay? I stated again what the problem was and put plenty of salutations and well wishes in for good measure.
I think this is in the too hard basket so being ignored. They can't see the links and I'm not going to send them direct so what to do?
That's OK. can always go through fleabag. I'm sure they will appreciate me not breaking the rules but the seller encouraging that will not go in their favour. The sellers breaking the rules sure are helpful for my side of things.

Next I spose is to upload the Unboxing Vids I did to YT. I also took Pics of the Multimeters so I'll send them first with the claim. If I send pic of label, Pic of Multimeters with light, explain I live away from the PO and give the quote for me to take them back with their shipping label, what else can I pre empt in the goal for the one shot Refund?
This will be interesting as they are going to get a " Both the lights you sent me are not as described " message which is going to hurt!
Also going to raise their Ire when they get the same claim and pics for 2 different orders. Can't help it if my neighbour and I ordered the same lights and found they were both under rated.
Then there will be another claim from someone they are already dealing with for the 48W Lights. Might wait till the first ones are cleared up before I hit them with that.

I know, just the kind considerate kind of guy I am.

Funny, I did my unboxing on the kitchen Island as well.
The Mrs wanted it well lit so I put 3x 15W led bulbs over the top so the lighting is excellent.
I didn't go into the connection details, just had 2 identical MM's connected together, one showing amps, one volts. Read the numbers, did the Calc's on my tablet read out the totals and held them up for the camera to see. Took pics of the labels and videoed the whole unboxing and connection so there is no questioning it.

My little all in one meter was a mile out when I put it together. No adjustment on the back either. Thinking about it, I may have Mixed up the shunts I had. I thought they were all the same but maybe not. As it's reading over value, shouldn't be too hard to add in some resistors to get it more accurate. Might be able to use a trim pot which would make it easy. NFI what I used the other shunt on now but whatever it was, probably reading inaccurate too. Then again, may just be a dodgy meter. Should be able to correct it anyway.

We are upping our games with this. Going to make it harder for them to resist refunds and easy for fleabag to find in our favour should it get that far.
I was wondering if I should in the description include the seller name? Can always be edited for the same product from a different seller.

Be interested in your seeing your new speil as a template for what to include and cover. :0)

In the opening para of the YT description, I was giving that some serious thought -- I concluded that it might be construed as harassment in the *first* instance, however... as expressed in my email to ebay, a reputable seller -should- edit their listing, so it properly reflects the actual item being sold, *after* the fact of it being drawn to their attention by responsible buyers. If in that situation, after any resolution has been dealt with, and they -still- don't change their listing...then I'd get away with shaming them online...not before - I left room in the opening para to edit in their name later if need be =)

    So here it is, the one-shot attempt ..1998char;

That's pretty tight.. all I can do now is wait =)

Nice, But I do think you are giving them WAAAAAY too much credit.
They aren't going to have the first clue what 1.84A is and to be fair, it's pretty meaningless without a voltage to go with it. Unless that is your cunning plan which has been too clever for me to grasp, I think catering to the lowest common denominator, and I think we are talking subterranean level here, it would be better to spell it out and say these 48W lights only put out 20W so even the most brain dead ( and we are yet to see signs of any intelligence yet with these people) can see the problem.

The other point is as you have rightly pointed out, we need to spell it out for the ebay bots and others so they too can see listed as 48W, only does 20 and they don't even have to know that the hell a W is in the first place. They can see the thing has come up shy and not as advertised.

I had not thought of the sellers name being construed as harassment, rather closing the door to the suggestion of " that's not our light" or " that's different to the one we sell" etc. May not be an issue as it hasn't been so far. Either way, I do think it is a fair thing to put where you bought the light from. The harassment I would see as more along the lines of " If you don't give me what I want I'll show this vid to everyone..... which is pretty much implied anyway. Maybe instead of revised feedback they may request removal or editing of the vid to hide their name. :0)

I'm going to have to write out a sheet to keep track of all this now. Where I bought what and with what account and cross it off when settled so -I- don't confuse myself.

Might go out and check out these lights before it gets too cold.,

Yeah, I'm still undecided if they are Dumber than dog shit or they are playing the part of complete morons as part of their strategy to make the customer give up in frustration......

    Hello again,

I hope you are doing well.

I just checked my messages and have still not received a reply from you. In my last message I re sent the video links and have been waiting for your favourable response. This is dragging out a bit long now and I was hoping you might have been able to get this cleared up for me without further ado,

As I have explained, the solar controller you sent me is NOT an MPPT type as described but the Cheaper PWM type. You don't even need to see the links I have now twice provided, you can go to your own warehouse and see the units and Test them for yourself to see what has been sent out. They are the inferior PWM type and not what your ad said they were and not fit for the purpose of which I bought them based on your description.

Would it be better and easier for you If I just went through the ebay returns system or can we deal with this ourselves quickly and with without any more delays?

I look forward to your prompt reply and have a nice day!

Thank you for your letter. We have sent a picture in the attachment.Could you please kindly try again follow the manual?

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to me.
The problem with the controller is not operational. The problem is you listed this Controller as being an MPPT design when it is a Cheaper PWM Type.
They are completely Different architectures and the product is NOT as it was described in the listing. The problem is not that I do not know how to use the controller, because I certainly do, it is the WRONG controller for what you had listed and which I purchased.
MPPT keeps the panel voltage at it's maximum or Vpm . A PWM controller just pulses the output from the panel and disregards the efficiency of the panel and just looks at the battery voltage. Your listing clearly states repeatedly that this is an MPPT controller which is what I wanted but it is not as the links I have provided you show.
As I have asked a number of times now, coupld you please tell me if you would like to offer a solution to the fact you have sent me an incorrect not as described Item or should I just make it easier for us both and save time by going directly through the ebay resolution process as these commounications do not seem to be be making any progress in resolving this problem.

I hope to hear a favourable reply so we can rectify this mistake ASAP.

Thank you and have a good Day!

I'll give them one more response and then I will start a return if they muck me round any more. OTOH, leaving neg feedback has got their attention before so maybe that's the way to go?
Was I kidding myself with hopes of a one shot resolution!! These people go on like this then when you do leave neg feedback they carry on like you have wronged them unfairly. I think we are up to the 5th email now and Every time I have asked if they would prefer me to go through ebay but they have never even addressed the question or asked me not to. Surely that's just dumb ignorance and couldn't be a tactic of any sort. I really wonder if the people on the other end of this can even read English?

OTOH, as this probably gets passed from one arse clown to another, perhaps their goal is just to deflect the problem till their shift has finished so it becomes someone elses and gets marked on their stats.... If they even do that. Lets see if and how quick they reply. Not going anywhere now.

Nice, But I do think you are giving them WAAAAAY too much credit.
    To whom? Ebay?...because that's who that's written for =)

They aren't going to have the first clue what 1.84A is and to be fair, it's pretty meaningless without a voltage to go with it.
I know that, you know that...someone in customer support will know that (do believe me there =)...do I care if anyone else knows that? Nah...gotta fill that 2000char buffer with something.

I had not thought of the sellers name being construed as harassment
Pretty sure I can find that reference ..usually if the brain rings a warning alarm it's for a reason....and recall, to some degree, I've already harassed the ebay agents themselves ~ I've resigned myself to the fact they'll be watching me ; I know I would =)

I'm going to have to write out a sheet to keep track of all this now. Where I bought what and with what account and cross it off when settled so -I- don't confuse myself.
Yep, rely on records, not your memory ...even if your memory is bulletproof -- you can't display your memory of events as being tacit ; that must be backed up by records....plus it's easier to sort <grin>

Know this -- I have *never* left negative/neutral feedback, *ever*. I have 490 pieces of feedback, all positive. Here's why, and if you think ebay haven't already done the same thing with my account recently, that'd be in error ->

I have never broken character, ever -- if I bought 5 colouring pencils that were described as being Sebring Orange, and I get Burnt Sienna instead, they will still get a 2000char (or near as dammit =) contact message ; it's my established buyer character.

    Even when the big ugly monster I ran into recently who sold me the electronics turns out to be a huge ripoff operation...I still remain in character....they got back to me about the expired feedback link;

Point of order would be just to feather that in your cap when buying from O/S, which means the package could or may take 6weeks to get here -- after 2months, feedback is dead to both buyer & seller if buyer hasn't submitted feedback by then. Still...

I can BS with the best of them -- no harm in sweet sounding BS =)
