I've been using United or Liberty E10 (95RON) in all my cars ,mowers and whipper snippers for as long as it's been around with no ill affects.

    Dash.

Yeah, a lot of folks don't know E10 has an octane number of about 95 (*The Australian government makes stations advertise E10 as 94 RON) .. this is a blend of ethanol (108RON) and unleaded (91RON)

Premium unleaded is 95RON as well, no ethanol ...but not every servo has it, most do.

the town near where I live has unleaded 91 octane and 98 octane , no E10 , that is why I am asking about mixing the 2 different octanes

So yo want to mix the fuels to save what? ..70c?
Just get the 98. You car will travel a lot further on it because it has a lot more energy.

98 can be the cheapest option over all.

Hi george there is 20c to 30c a litre difference here so I think I would save more than 70c especially since I get 80 litres at a time, but thanks for the info

    Yep, at 40l x 25 c its $6.00.

Although its really not as one will take you a lot further than the other so call it $3.00.
About the price of a can of drink or a snack bar.
Really make a difference on yearly running costs!

    I run 98 in everything...
The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

    I DON'T run E-10 in ANYTHING.

    That said...
Mrs was talking about alcohol and hand sanitizer tonight. I said i can get you that...

I have washed the ethanol out of E 85 before to put in my vehicle water injection system. Spray in an extra 20 hp worth of cool burning fuel no problem. Just add some water, shake somewhat, 5 min to seperate and you drain the booze and water from the bottom.

Might want to add some essential oil to make it smell nicer but would sure disinfect your hands well enough. Easy as to just distill the booze off anyway. It evaporates 20oc below petrol and more than that for water so not hard to do.

If you are referring to my comment, I never said it was.
Just saying I don't use E10 at all. It's complete and utter garbage.

Funny that ~ when I worked for CUB, we used to sell the ethanol that was stripped out to make 'light' beer for petrol blending =)

I am yet to see an upside to ethanol yet as a motor fuel. It tends to fk a whole range of things from fuel lines to cat converters and sucks the moisture out the air like no tomorrow.

When using alcohol in racing engines it was ALWAYS drained out after the last race from the tank, the carb and the lines because it was well known it caused Havoc if you left it in there.

I have personally had E10 stuff fuel valves and pumps, cause endless vapor lock problems, pull loads of water into the fuel system and corrode the shit out of carbs. people who use it would have to be ignorant to how bad it is or they wouldn't touch the stuff. Did a test years ago and found a tank of regular fuel went on average 80 Km further than a tank of Ecrap. That was just 95 or whatever, not the good 98 stuff.

I'd far sooner put 10% Diesel in my petrol than ethanol.
Then again, for my Diesels I won't put that in without some added oil. It's so damn dry now it only just passes the minimum lubricity standards. 200;1 2 stroke, veg oil, bio diesel etc makes a HUGE difference to the lubricity factor and pump and injector life. I won't even run straight diesel in my generators and small engines. Run them all pretty much on oil anyway.

I have done a test between 98 and e10 and there was only about 30 klm difference and nobody has answered the question I first posted can 98 and unleaded 91 be mixed and would it be come out 93 octane or above.

Ummm... that was me saying 'yes', that would work (mixing the 2 fuel types you exampled), and also pointing out 95RON (premium unleaded, no ethanol) would be just as cost/time effective...if there's a bowser near you.

...what part of 'mixing the 2 fuel types you exampled' do you not understand? Your first post only mentioned 2 types of petrol, what has diesel got to do with anything here?

Doh!... my bad ; you fell asleep during math lessons... I understand, lots of lousy math teacher out there... 91 + 98 / 2 ...in English, ninety one plus ninety eight equals one hundred and eighty nine, divided by two, gives you the average content octane after mixing the two fuels you mention at a ratio of 1:1 ....don't wanna spoil it for you, so I'll let you do the math =)
