Default Need help spending my $$$$! Which pc?

Hey all, Got know Idea what I'm looking for, I only have limited knowledge about computers and hardware specs. Long story short I'm looking for a computer to have on my TV unit to run to the tv and to be used only with the tv, what should I be looking at as I only need it to be quick enough/Good enough to run Netflix, YouTube etc. No gaming planed. Laptop vs desktop $ for $? Mini pc vs normal size? Built pc as I have mates that can build? What hard ware spec to look for or must haves?
    All help is appreciated.
    Cheers

Yep, but is it worth 4 or 5 times as much? Price depending on Pro version or older or newer models.

I have another 2 Vodafone TV units arriving today

For $144 for 2 units (DVB-T2 + Android) they are hard to beat
They do everything i ask, load and run the dodgest apps

Play YT, Netflix and Plex in 1080p, they can do 4K, but i really don't bother with 4K
Its a bit hard on the old 3G connection

And considering these devices seem to have a new version out every couple of years, its hard to pay anymore for them than necessary

The Vodafone unit is tiny and the remote is BT
So you can hide the unit behind the TV with velcro or have it behind a closed cupboard door

Ok, a bit of research & it is a simple streaming box.
I sometimes like to queue up shows by downloading them first as our internet speed can be variable & I hate buffering in the middle of a really good show.
So does it have the ability to download & store?
Can the storage be added to by USB drive/s?
    Cheers, Tiny

Yes, you can add USB or NAS

The latest Android update on these units removed support for NTFS formatted USB drives apparently
Many people are upset about this, apparently its an Android thing??

There are small Apps you can run so it will Read/Write to NTFS USB drives again

Personally, my days of storage are over
You could run a FAT32 thumb drive in there Tiny or have the Vodafone box stream from your networked PC where you are doing the downloading from

It is a bit expensive compared to the chinese things around (some good some bad) but is one of

only a few TV boxes Google Certified.
