    Default Akai bunnings aircon

    Hi

I have an office that until now i have had a portable aircon working in it. this has since blown up and it didnt really work that well anyway.

the office is very small but does have a rack with a server and a bunch of networking equipment in it.

I am looking at getting one of the inverter split systems from bunnings

the Brand is Akai the size is 2.5kw and model is AK-T25R32

it looks ok and seems to be very similar to the kelvinator units i have in the other rooms.

    are these units ok?

It will be seeing little use.

I see there is a Mitsabishi there however when i looked at them they seem to be running the old R410A refrigerant and the model doesn't show on their website so i concluded they where a discontinued line.

This link a little bit dated, however, it lends some insight on this -->

i did see that thread however a lot of the issues they have with the unit seems to be that the brand wont be around for long. however that thread is from 2009 and we are now 11 years on with the brand still kicking and going good.

That would be true ; issue is Akai -were- an audio/visual company, it is now just a brand name - one year's model may have different internals/make than the next ; Mitsubishi however have always had a 'heavy' electrical manufacturing division. We had the same deliberation buying split systems for this place (about 5 years ago now), and chose Mitsubishi based on this much ; units haven't missed a beat (msz-ge71va) ... and I can't find a comparable thread for mitsubishi A/C (although they're probably out there somewhere)

As a side note ; I wonder if the 'Holden' branding will get sold and appear on stuff like this ; would you buy an aircon from a defunct car manufacturer? (rhetorical =)

I just called bunnings up about the MHI one with my concern and they said it is current model. I then had another look on the website and found the bunnings model number is different SRK25ZSA-W at bunnings SRK25ZSXA-W from the manufacturer. not sure what that is about. I will get the Mitsubishi unit.

It also has a 5 year warranty.

also re holden i don't think it will get sold off because GM Still exists and i cant see them selling it off, they will likely release cars in Australia under that brand name in the hopes that Aussies will be more likely to buy them.

SRK25ZSA-W ..is a mitsubishi 'avanti' ... SRK25ZSXA-W is a mitsubishi 'avanti PLUS' (higher efficiency) ; lots of positive reviews on both, looks like a better path (as we concluded =)

with bunnings etc all the major brand stuff they sell is the same as the
normal places but has a different letter number attached so there
will never be the 10% price difference refund they offer on the same
    product cheaper.

    Often the case, but not in this instance ~ they are indeed different units ;
