I recently got a Samsung 1TB SSD for ~$200 discounted from a local supplier, but it would have worked out the same at Mwave by post.
I guess it has a lot to do with a Dollar currently
But SSD and RAM prices are back to what they were 2 years ago
Anyone know a good source of SAMSUNG EVO SSD's and RAM currently?
1TB Samsung 860 EVO was $150 delivered last December

Seems we are all on the same line of thinking

Same, going from 4Gb of RAM to 16GB, maybe a bit pointless for a 2011 model laptop
SSD and 16GB Ram, new battery went in yesterday

had a couple of the Samsung SSD's for about 5 years now. Never had a problem with them. Conventional drives never seem to last with me for some reason. Sick of Buying multiple of the bloody things so I have backups.
That said, I'm running out of storage again so going to have to pony up for another POS WD/ segate. Might see if I can hang out a bit longer till the $$ goes up. Not like I'm doing a lot atm anyway. Draw back of having High end Digital cameras. Every time I pull the thing out it's 30Gb with a few Video clips. If I do a full vid.... Lets just say those 200GB cards come in real handy. Still take forever to transfer to the computer though.
Given up on USB's as well. When I shoot for someone else, I just throw 2 cards in the camera and give them one at the end. Daughter gets me 32 Gb flash cards for under $8. Cheaper and easier than transferring things to slow arse USB's. Did a friends son's engagement about 6 weeks ago. End of the night, Pulled out the SD card, handed it over, Job delivered.
I remember the first Digital camera I had I bought with an 8 MB CFcard. From memory that was over $250. Mate bought the same camera and got a 12Mb I think it was card. That was $380. He was better heeled than me. I remember people thinking cards had become cheap when they came down to $1 MB.
My computer is 13 yo but being a server has " Adequate" ram at 64Gb.
These people into gaming probably have 10X that now..... Just in their Video card!
Only for 64 bit, 32 bit (x86) wont use more than 4GB afaik.
Na, my old HDD failed on xmas day & needed replacing & the SSD was all the local had in stock.
I'm really happy it worked out that way though, the SSD is great, startup almost instant & programs load almost instant..
