Gotta agree with Fernbay, unless your motorizing the dish and you want to follow the Clark belt perfectly, near enough to the eye with the pole is good enough.

Main thing is its solid and does not move in the wind.

might also add that the pole needs to be plumb when using a H-H motor. That's when it's critical.

Edit: What I really meant to say was what he said above.

Double Edit: Just found mounts that are ideal for this application in this thread

The one I don't understand is under that, signal quality, I have only one red bar lit up yet I have prefect reception ?
Sorry to come back to an old thread but I thought it better to do that than open a new one as I never really got an answer to this.

My IQ still only has the first red bar lit up for quality, what could be causing that ? or is that not a problem ? What my box does is that it will come up with the Help channel fine but nothing else. If I leave it on for about 48 hours eventually other channels will start to appear. I also get the program listings OK pretty much straight away, but everything else is F100, no signal.

I am aimed up on C1/D3 OK to the best of my knowledge, I rechecked all the angles this morning. My LNB settings are OK as far as I know, I read the frequencies off the side of the LNB just now and they match whats here.

What I am not sure about is what is here, ie Home Transponder.

Any ideas ? My LNB is single polarity by the way. One thing, this morning it said TS14 now it says TS17 after a few reboots. I am in Noumea.

    Any help appreciated.

Talking Setting up in Noumea for Foxtel.

    G'Day Cobber,
For a start, with signal and quality in the red, you are not correctly point at, or locked onto the Satellites, (C1 / D3). They must be both in the GREEN.
You obviously need to fine tune your Elevation, Azimuth and Skew.
It is also noted that you have setup for a Universal LNB, but do you have two cables going to the box? In other words, must be a Twin 17000 or Twin Universal for the IQ boxes.
    Address: noumea
    Latitude: -22.2758°
    Longitude: 166.4580°
    Satellite: 156E OPTUS C1 | OPTUS D3
    Elevation: 61.3°
    Azimuth (true): 334.0°
    Azimuth (magn.): 321.5°

You can click and drag the marker

You can go to this site and input your actual address and get a ground line of sight for your dish.

You wont be far out with the above figures.
12138 H / 27800 should be OK to tune up on.
Not sure whether the footprint covers Noumea, but will check.

Kindest Regards, " The Druid ".

Thanks for the heads up jgarg, ill give that a go today.

One thing, is the mount pole isnt straight, It goes up straight, and then out on an angle, but this should matter should it, as you can still adjust the angle on the satellite? The satellite came off a friends roof who moved house and didnt need it.

    Cheers!
If the dish and decoder came off a friends roof why not just call Foxtel to come around in re install it for your properly.

DIY is often what this Forum is all about and DIY often perfects the reception! More power to the arm of exilr8 for having a go!

    G'Day Cobber,
exilr8 was last on the forum 06/10/10. So the current replies have nothing to do with him.
    The current poster "
philou " is in Noumea. Do they have a Foxtel Installer there? May be very good reasons, why not. Self Install for one.

For the iQ you need a dual output 10700 LNB.

    Each output is dual polarity.

Basically, it's two separate LNB's in a single enclosure and they operate entirely independent of each other.

Extremely unlikely, as the Foxtel beam is on Australia only.

With a very large dish it's possible in SE Asia, but not the Middle East.

    HI All,

I have my own question, and thought I should throw it in here.

I wanted to know what cable length would be possible from a standard Foxtel Dish -> IQ2 box.

Looks like I'm going to need about 50m ... which seems to be okish based on what I've read here in other forums.

    Cheers

    G'Day Cobber,
Should not be a problem if you use good quality quad shield 75 Ohm co-ax.
RG6/U or RG11/U for longer runs.

75ohm coax cable many shields (quad) RG-6U or RG-11U for lower loss. Use inline amp every 100m or so. 50m with good signal to start with will be fine.

Is it possible to have a IQHD box and a old foxtel box.Im thinking about upgrading to foxtel IQHD for my main room but plan to stick with the old box in my other room.I am aware that the IQHD requires the new lmb with two feeds.Im just not sure how that affects the old foxtel box

you can use the std box with the iq as per my response in your other thread. The lnb will be changed to a dual with a multiswitch or a quad output lnb. 2 outputs feed the IQ and one will feed the std box.
