Default Connecting to Networx nx-8v2 via modem

    Hello everyone,

I've bought a house with an nx-8V2 panel.

The previous owner gave me the arm/disarm codes and some documentation but nothing else.
Now I am looking for the programming code since I want to add some smoke detectors.

The system was connected via a landline to the alarm company.
I've tried every possible code I can think of but had no luck.
I've even contacted the alarm company and they gave me a code, that did not work, or the option they reset the code.
For this service I need to pay €45 + TAX in front and they will see if it is possible to call in to the panel and reset the code/panel.
Since there is no longer a landline this is not an option.

I've tried directly connecting to the panel via modem using the resistor trick.
I am using a US robotics 5630 56k fax modem and the dl900 software version 3.04

When the modem dials the panel I can hear it dialing and ringing.
After pressing *99 on the keypad to connect I hear some data being transmitted and the ringing stopts but the software stays offline until I get an error message saying it can't connect.
Using the callback=> answer now function doesn't do anything either.

When I add +fclass=1 to the second init string the situation stays the same when dialing.
When I try the answer now it directly connects but there is no answer and I get the folowing error: "error writing data to module 0.....0"(see printscreens).

I think the init string is not 100% correct but I can not find what's wrong.
Is there someone who can help me get the correct settings?

I'm sorry for the long post.

    Sincerely,
    Jonas

It will be easy to reset the panel then try and get existing programming.
Modem strings to suit a an pain to get right.
Are you dialling in from a different landline to which the panel line is on?
Why do you have numbers in password (keyword)?

Otherwise it's money well spent to get someone who knows what they are doing!

I'm connecting directly to the panel connections.
From modem to the R and T connection.
When you connect the COM from the panel to T and AUX PWR through a 1K resistor to R you simulate an off hook phone line.

The numbers are something I added when messing around with the dl900 software.
I forgot to delete this but I do not think this can be the issue.

I know it's money well spent to get a specialist but I'd like to learn programing this panel myself.

I've tried an other modem and can connect to the panel.
The next problem is the acces code.
I get the message I use the wrong acces code.
I've tried several different codes (standard and other possibilities) but had no luck.

Is there any way to download the existing program when directly connected to the panel?

There are only 3 things I can think of.
1: reset the panel and lose the existing program.
2: use something like NX unlocker to reset the password (don't know if this program works?)
    3: use an NX587E or NX-586E and a second panel (I can't do this since I don't have a second panel or the NX587E / NX-586E)
If the 3rd option is not allowed to post I will remove it.

    Really only option 1.
I've never tried the NX unlocker software.

I haven't heard of your option 3, is it that you connect to a second panel with 586 module then transfer 586 leads to the panel you want to get in to, then can upload?

I have contacted the alarm company if they are willing to give me the acces code.

The 3rd option is like you said.
Connect with a 586 to a panel with a known acces code and hotswap the connection to the locked panel.
It seems that the NX unlocker software is based on the same principle.
Based on what I've read you can only unlock a panel with the 586 module (direct connection via com port).
I have a pretty good idea how to do it even without the nx unlocker software but since I do not have the 586 software I can't test my theory.

Dude you must have the smarts to try what you have been doing.
How big is the panel? How many inputs Etc.

    Default it and start again.
    Clean and simple.

Will take less time than you have spent typing in the forum ....

But we do like to try and prove our theories even if it takes days.

I know resetting the panel is the fastest option.
There's about 8 motion sensors, 4 keypads, smoke detector and 2 sirens connected.
Programming this would only take about 15 min in total.

By searching alternatives I've learned about the sytem (and others) and it's strengths and weaknesses.

For example if I connect the panel to my home network via an nx584 for home automation it would be possible for everyone (with the correct knowledge) who can connected to the network to alter the panel.

From what I've seen the 586 should just be an rs232 to rs485 converter with extra options.
This could be usefull if I decide to develop my own modules to interface with the panel.
