Default Kraftwerk founder Florian Schneider dead......

Sad news, i'm a big fan of kraftwerk, they were pioneers in electronic music in the 70's and 80's and introduced the world to the vocoder....

Notable works are 'Autobahn' and 'the model', which was covered by Rammstein......

I enjoyed listening to Autobahn in the 80's while driving on the Autobahn in my boss's BMW at 240km/h(it had a speed limiter).
He also named his son Florian.

Almost every BMW driver did that the minute you got past the traffic jams. No wonder many need a replacement motor at 90,000km.

Dear dear, there's a loss, part of my 70's life departs with him. I used to cop a lots of dissing from friends at school etc for my penchant for electronic music at all (started with Walter/Wendy Carlos' Switched-On Bach =), let alone things like Kraftwerk. Back in the day, it wasn't until the release of Autobahn did they attract any mainstream airplay...but I could *just* gather in enough signal where I was, to hear the then 4ZZ out of Brisbane play Kraftwerk tracks from albums before they became 'popular'.

For mine, their seminal work is the album 'Radio-Activity' , but my absolute favourite is the 1973 album 'Ralf und Florian', and in particular note the track Ananas Symphonie (Pineapple Symphony)

Ahh, such wonderful times and halcyon memories of days in my life gone by, thanks Florian.

Haven't heard of Kraftwerk since I was a teenager myself.

Oh my god Switched on Bach.

I had a nice 73 Karmann Ghia convertable with an 8 track and would play that and twelve dreams of Dr Sardonicos at ludicrous volume. One snowy day this long haired hippy freak arrived at a job installing a burglar alarm at some millionaires home outside Chicago. The lady of the house was so impressed with the "Bach" she let me park my car in her carriage house.

Yes i remember being introduced to Kraftwerk and The Robots through a mate back in the Club days, i actually started enjoying all their music back then.

Was something different, and electronic music was becoming real big back then.
