Where to buy

Hi I am just wondering where in Australia I can buy a quality used MacBook? Under $500? I am starting a course that requires a computer but I don't know where to go. Thank you

There'd be lots of options out there - a macbook is something near the bottom of the list of possible options IMHO (unless of course there was some program involved with your studies that absolutely required macos)

This would be part of the reason why I say that ->

Depends upon your needs.
a) Do you really need a bit of "fruit" (i.e. Apple)
b) What does your course actually specify?

You could look at various auction houses in your locality which often have "ex-govt" devices for waaaaaaay less than retail.

Salvo (Salvation Army) Stores and Cash Convertors are a very good source of used Mac (and other brand) notebooks etc.

They might be a little grubby/shop-soiled but clean up very well.

Macs are excellent, so don't be out off by some of the derogatory replies you get.

Sorry for late reply.
I get all my old Macs from Ebay and they still work today but some are now so old they can not be upgraded to the latest OS, which is not a problem for me as the have dedicated offline use.
Consider an M1 Mac Mini which you can get used for under $500 and just use any old monitor (with HDMI input of course).
I doubt you will find a better performance to price ratio with any other hardware.

I am also running Windows 11 ARM with Parallels VM on my M1 Mini simultaneously.
