Default Paslode nail gun battery upgrade

Have found this youtube clip re upgrading the battery pack of a Paslode nail gun
I posses a framer and a braider and use them infrequently at work
Seems each time i pull them out all 3 batteries are near flat, but have been working around this by using one, charging another
Recently found 2 of the batteries not responding to charge and found this link

He uses 3.7 volt batts in series (?), pulled my old computer pack apart but all cells were stuffed, Had a spare 18volt drill battery, pulled apart each bat showing 4.6v x 2 = 8.12v, connected it up to the board and fried it
Q, can i put the batteries in parallel, double the amperage and not fry the board?, or use one battery @4.3v put through the board to get 6.6v (?) required to fire the gun?
Alternatively is there a board that reduces, not amplifies the voltage
back to 6 v that i can plug into to charge the batteries? off a telephone charger

He's using 2 x 3.7v lipo cells connected in parallel (1S2P), and a DC>DC boost converter to get the required 6volts (and it doubles as a charge controller) : I imagine he went that way because 3.7volts (even in parallel) won't work (gun needs 6volts)

The battery pack you pulled down appears to be a Ni-MH type pack at a guess.... and 4.6v x 2 == 9.2volts

What the guy has done in the video, is the easiest/cheapest/quickest option.

I have a Paslode Gas Gun battery sitting in my gun, 7 years not used.
Took 12 or more restarts in the factory charger and it finally took a charge

Now its fine. I just leave on the charger 24/7 now
Perhaps you can have luck doing this?

OB, just put back on the charger, won't go into charger mode, ie red/green light flashing, seems stuck on the red but will persevere
The idea re the lithium's is i can recharge out of the Ranger socket on site, don't always have access to mainspower

OK, the Dyson sh1t itself, pulled apart the battery pack and they had approx 3.3volts each, soldered them up, put the charger on them etc and get 6.47 volts at the terminals, BUT gun won't fire or fan wont work!
Put original battery in and it fires, checked voltage, same as the above, seems i have the voltage but no guts, can some one explain why it wont work
Looked up Youtube to see how to check battery but they all seem to do the voltage test or have elaborate equipment to test them?

Likely to be insufficient current available.

Is that because the batteries are stuffed?

    I suspect that's the issue.

If the batteries cannot provide enough current (Amps) under load, there will be insufficient power to fire the gun.

You may have enough voltage, but you also need sufficient current.

Think of a failing car battery... it may show it has the correct voltage, but the engine won't turn over... that's because it can no longer provide enough current.
