    Default Monitoring IP Camera feeds

    I'm looking for a hardware solution to monitor IP camera feeds fulltime.

    Does anyone know of a simple device that can connect to my ethernet and display multiple IP camera feeds on a standard computer monitor?

    I know I can do this using a PC but that's kinda overkill, I'm just looking for a small standalone video box or similar, but multiplexing multiple feeds would be a definite plus. No need to record DVR or anything like that, just display.

    Damn, I wasn't aware you could buy that 16 channel split PIP Screen CCTV Video Multiplexer.. $35 bloody cheap.

    I used an old tablet and loaded an app which was called 'Net Cam Viewer' worked well and is available for free on the app store.

    All my cameras are IP cameras (connected to my LAN) and already available to other devices through various apps/browsers, but I'm just looking to add a standalone monitor somewhere (say, in the kitchen) that will display some/all of the video feeds full time.

    I can do it with a smart TV and an app like IP Cam Viewer but, much like having a dedicated PC, that seems a little much for such a simple task.

    My bad, apols -- I've had an analog week and didn't read 'IP' & 'camera' in the same glance...to redress;

    I imagine you could get an RPi and use zone-minder to the same effect....not sure how many camera feeds it could display simultaneously (4 easy, maybe more), but it would be cheaper than the above. Still, the unit above is what I think you're after in a dedicated bit of hardware.

    I could buy a couple of el-cheapo smart TVs or android boxes for that so a little on the expensive side.

    I had thought about doing something with a Raspberry Pi, I'll take a look at that zone-minder software and see how I go, but I was knida hoping for something plug'n play.

    Yeah, the price spooked me as well. Mind you, that's their 'new' model with 4K capability... so if you didn't need that video performance, have a hunt for the previous 720P model... ie;

    That'll get you just under AU$250 for the pleasure....which is not too bad I guess (used). Your keywords for search is 'IP Decoder box' or suchlike.

    RPi is always going to be cheaper, because the plug'n'play facility is built into you =)

    Buy a cheap NVR mount it behind the monitor connect to the monitor via HDMI.
    Program the camera IP addresses you want to display into the NVR channels.

    Thanks kiwitech, any recommendations?

    I'd like to monitor 4 IP camera feeds per monitor, and VGA output would allow me to use any old monitor, rather than having to buy one with HDMI input.

    Probably better to use Intel Stick or RasPI. Use RTSP stream from cameras.

    As Kiwitech has said. Get a cheap 4 channel NVR and program the cameras into it
    Easiest and most reliable way to do it.

    Thanks Andrew,

    $273 isn't really what I'd call "cheap", especially considering I'd probably want at least two of them.

    I was hoping to find a more simple solution for something under $50 per monitor. Just some kind of standalone video card that can display an Ethernet video feed, multiplexing would be a bonus but if cheap enough I'd settle for one feed per monitor.

    If I wanted to spend big money I'd go for something like a Synology Surveillance Station, it's a bit more expensive again but handles up to 96 IP camera feeds and has video wall output etc., but that's WAY too complicated for what I want to do, I really am looking for something cheap that I can use with my existing spare computer monitors.

    You can get them on Alibaba from around $12 US dollars from China.
