How else do you use Spotify without using data?
Hi all,
Not sure if anybody has experienced the same as what i'm experiencing using spotify premium on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10+.
I use Spotify and in its settings i have turned off "Download using Cellular" and if the setting "Offline Mode" is turned off, then it will use cellular data. I don't want to use cellular data because it can use a lot of data and I only have around 2GB a month because it is a work phone.
I have been on the Spotify community and there seems to be a lot of people with the same problem but Spotify doesn't seem to have a solution.
Has anybody come across this and fixed it?
Cheers

Statistically, if you wait long enough, everything will happen!
Spotify will use cellular data when playing songs you haven't downloaded to your phone. You have premium and downloading is an option available to you. You need to create an album and download your songs to your phone using wifi - and play them while offline

using spotify without using cellular data is pointless really, may as well just download the songs to your phone and not even bother with spotify....
Sorry. I meant to write data over wifi. I don't want to use data over cellular
Thanks freakee1. I have all my songs downloaded. I have confirmed this by looking at the playlists in my library and the little download icon is green on every song.
if "download using cellular" is off and the owner of the playlist loads another song into the playlist, technically, Spotify shouldn't download it until I am connected to the wifi network at home or wherever else I have access via wifi.

why is it pointless? I have premium so I can download the songs on to my phone using my home wifi. My point is that Spotify shouldn't be downloading using cellular when I have toggled this option to "off" in the settings.

You answered this with your opening post ;
-That- is why it's pointless... 1. multiple users having the same problem, 2. and it's not just samsung or android, this smites IOS as well... 3. threads of this happening, recursively, litter spotify's community pages for over 5yearsI have been on the Spotify community and there seems to be a lot of people with the same problem but Spotify doesn't seem to have a solution.
Would I pay for software this poor?....umm, no. I have multiple accounts for buying music, and as hoe obviates, buy it online, download to my computer/phone/whatever, or download and transfer to the phone, done. IMHO, you're paying for premium frustration, nothing more.
If you turn off mobile data on your phone (not just Spotify), it then can't use any mobile data for any apps.
would app like Netguard in Playstore help? just to block spotify in using data.
