We can all be intolerant and hypocritical from time to time, and I don't exclude myself from this. It is a very human failing. But quite frankly I find the use of labels such as bigot unhelpful. They carry the imputation that all of the so-called bigots opinions are tainted by irrationality and are not to be taken seriously. I do not place George in this category. The way to deal with these opinions is to confront and discuss them, not call the person who holds them a bigot and move on. Who knows, you may find out that you don't have a monopoly on the truth after all.
As for the main topic, I simply don't know the circumstances at this stage, but am always sceptical of news reports in this type of situation. At this stage conspiracy theories abound, as they usually do when facts are in short supply.

Oh look a dumpster fire ..... and I arrived late and forgot to bring some marshmellows.
The first I saw of this somebody sent me a video (the one from the balcony) with no message or context while I was at work. In the first few seconds I saw are good size mushroom cloud and wondered wow, something made good size bang there. But then I started to see the brown smoke and commented to a friend on the phone that was a LOT of Nitrogen Dioxide happening there and this was a nitrate fire and the doing the video should get the fvck outta there because shit is about to get a whole lot worse. Oops, too late. The few minutes I thought he had is now a few seconds to run inside and get away from the windows.
My next comment was, "DANG! -That's a prilled amonium nitrate fire. I can't wait to see some dash cam footage of that."

Just look up Fire works Factory fires and then Ammo dump Fires on YT and see the way they burn and which one most looks like the Beirut Fire.
My bet is there were Munitions of some sort stored in or near there.
