Replacement cables for controllers

After having to "cut and shut" the controller cables on my son's XBox the question came to mind, does anybody, anywhere, know where replacement cables could be purchased, as I have been told that the controllers will (or are), not be available. Hoping to hear(see) a response to this request, as I am sure that there is a lot of units around, with faulty cables ............
