Hi new member - looking for help with an MCM Icon8 alarm
I have an older MCM Icon 8 alarm that stopped working - power icon comes on
Having a look at the motherboard I don't see any of the magic smoke that's come out
Further looking into it, the battery isn't charging...
When I connected up a charged battery the system seems to work, except for the chirping of the no AC power supply (measured at 18V A/C) out of the control pads
The voltage regulators (2x L7805CV) have 5V out, but the ground (centre pin & heatsink) is also 5V (measuring from battery earth, no battery connected) - so I'm thinking its an earth fault, but can't figure out how the battery will charge as that should be a separate regulator (or something)
So if anyone with knowledge can guide me, that would be great
Else suggestions of replacement board?
Appreciate your help

Suggest you look at Bosch Solution 2000 or 3000 and Hills R128 as replacement.
I vaguely remember there is an issue with that model whereby it indicates there is no AC connected, even though there is. It's something to do with a failed protection diode or similar component from memory. Try googling MCM Electronics in Sydney and calling them. They might be able to help you.

Cheers, that sounds about right as it doesn't seem to major, I'll give them a call.
