i wouldnt bother with that function , i would never leave a closing door unsupervised at any time to begin with. the safety beam only monitors the bottom 300mm of space , and there are plenty of opportunities for kids or pets taller than that to jam something in the track and cause an injury long before the door reversed back up.

VV,
No kids here, no pets.
Just me (at the moment), the missus (Partner), is stuck in the UK and can't get back in.
I understand the 'what if concern'.
I have tested the door by already, as it was closing using my hand it didn't seem a lot to stop it.
I know it's hard for me to explain how much force i used to stop it, but it wasn't a lot IMO and actually surprised me.
Maybe there's inherent (downward force), regulations - anyway - to prevent crushing children accidently, in case the buyers can't afford the $200 optional extra?
The entire door weighs 80kg the motor is a 'loaded' 400N. I don't know if that's a lifting or closing capacity - maybe both.
When it stopped it auto reversed.

you could possibly try a magnetic reed switch. should work on the same principal. 2 wire in SB and GND. as long at the magnet connection isn't broken it should work.
