    Default Youtube Ads

    HI

    As above, when surfing the Youtube I get alot (I'm sure others do?) of ads and have to click them to get rid of them. I am looking to stream to my T.V soon and not have the ads, so I was wondering if any (good tinkers ) one knows of a good way to stop them displaying / showing up, etc ...besides paying Premium Youtube?

    I' am using Google Chrome on Windows 7 SP1, thanks

    Can't help you relative to Chrome (I only use that when involved with googlesuite, firefox is my default browser), however that said, I know it wasn't a 1 step process to eliminate youtube ads;

    *firefox with uBlock Origin add-on (I also use 'Youtube Classic' add-on for look&feel) -- this'll stop many but not all ads (external redirects)
    *Pi-hole installed on a local LAN host -- this stops the rest (and a lot of other stuff), with a DNS redirect to that host for DNS resolution (set this up in router DHCP config)

    This is linux-centric - not sure how you go about it in proprietary OS'...probably Docker is the way to get Pi-hole running in those cases.

    HTH

    +1 for pi-Hole - works a treat through docker. Highly configurable as well with white/black lists etc...

    Sad this use to be the case thanks to LinusTechTips

    I got a Pi Zero WH and installed and setup pi-hole, worked for a short amount of time but seems youtube are way too aggressive in sending people ads.
    Ads seem to increased massive during covid last year.
    I watch youtube though the xbox, Pihole is in another room, running through the router.
    I've tried to keep Pi-hole up to date but all it seems to do is remove some graphics from the icons on youtube.
    Works great for the rest of the web though through the phone or pc..

    If you work with several browsers, it is more convenient to install stand-alone application (AdGuard) than to install extensions for each browser
