A out time, too. He was/is a true hero. I'm sure that there are many more war heroes who lost their lives whilst saving their mates whose stories will never be told.

They'll never tell if they were there and survived. Certainly my old man and his mates wouldn't. I found out more at his wake than he ever told me.

My cousin is a Vietnam combat veteran. I've seen his name mentioned in a couple of action reports. We were having a beer a few years ago and I asked him if he'd seen the doco on Long Tan produced by Foxtel (a really good doco). He just looked up and said that Vietnam was a bunch of little Long Tans and left it at that...

And that.... is so true. Those who were there are not that keen to re-live it. Those who make those docos or movies, never were! All who were there would not willingly let anyone else go into those situations. They ALL deserve our respect!
