Me I don't like fixing things that aren't broke
Because there is always a chance of breaking it
whats the concesus in doing an x-clamp replacement before getting rrod , i mean if i was going too crack a 360 open too flash it the warranty is gone anyway so can replacing the x-clamps before getting rrod do more harm than good?

When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all
yeh i guess it may never get rrod but u never know, the clamp fix may prevent it happening at all.
If its the original old mobo then perhaps but the new mobo's have a smaller CPU & GPU, hence less power consumption= less heat= less chance of solder crack/pcb warp. They also have different heatsinks now

i hate rrod , trouble is the overheating is only one many things that can cause it
I would not bother with the xclamp , be a bit like going to the hospital and getting a cast on your leg , just in case you happen to break it
would not hurt though if you really wanted to do it
I would lean more towards doing it if you lived in a pretty hot climate as well
just buy ext fan plugs into your USB for power ..sits on back .. sucks out the heat ... little bit noisy ... but helps keep it cooler
Trust thyself only, and another shall not betray thee.
