and the port shows the trouble yellow triangle, so of course I cant make this work to connect to currently a NX12

Nah, win10 problems with just about everything ... google string 'This device cannot start. (Code 10) Insufficient system resources exist to complete the API' ; find instructions related to hacking registry to remove upperfilters/lowerfilters in the USB class drivers. That'd be my guess anyway (but I don't use windows =)
