Looks like you will be able to travel home thru NSW.
South Australia will reopen its borders to New South Wales from late tomorrow night, as long as there is no community transmission of coronavirus reported in NSW today.

Thanks mate, Sounds promising. I'll still head north first, but might come back via Bissy and Sydney!

If you are going to Cairns before you go back you might like to take a look around the Atherton Tableland, plenty of lakes and waterfalls to see, on the way back if you travel on the inland road via Mt Garnet to Charters Towers, the Undara Lava Tubes are well worth seeing. It's miles from anywhere and the website says the place is booked out for the holidays, but if you are coming back after then it may be possible to take a tour of the tubes and spend a night or two in the campgrounds there. See Well worth it and a very unique place.

Thanks Roger, I've been to Cairns a few times over the years. My Brother lives there. I'll certainly plan on the Lava tubes, haven't seen those and they look to be on my planned route to Darwin from Yungaburra. Friends on the tablelands, too.

Just in time for the start of the wet season, I love Darwin (mostly) but the humidity takes a few years to get used to

Sunday took us to Kholo Rd Bridge for fishing with the Grandchildren who had a great time, fishing Kayaking and jumping into the water. We caught about 6 fish but none worthy of note, all very small.

I then left the family to go exploring and ended up at Lake Manchester before returning home for a meal with the “adopted grandparents” of my grand children. It can be confusing because my daughter shares the same first name as theirs and they have been best friends since high school. So each has been adopted by the other parents as D1 & D2 (daughter 1, dad 1, mum 1, daughter 2 and so on). My grand children were lucky in that they had three set of grandparents. On Monday we travelled over towards Mt Tambourine and Curtis Falls. After a stroll of about 1.5km walking through dense rain forest and observing the local wildlife we were greeted with the falls themselves.
    No swimming allowed, though.

At the start of the track is a lovely coffee shop which is regularly the venue for weddings and other such celebrations.

    21. The Wisteria was in full bloom

On our travels home we passed though Mt. Tambourine and some magnificent views right out to the Eastern Horizon. I wished that I was on my bike as the road was a bikers’ paradise. We also found the Bavarian Grill & Brewery to which we have resolved to visit before I leave Brisbane. I hope it’s every bit as good as Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills. My handlebar risers arrived on Tuesday and, as the family were all at work or in care, I had the day to spend on the bike. I did a quick trip to Bunnings to get some paint to re-paint the saddle bar bracket that had been broken and re-welded then set about fitting the handlebar risers. After a lot of mucking around and re-locating the throttle cable, I am now sitting more upright and with my arms at less of a stretch to reach the controls.

    22. New handlebar risers

I can heartily recommend the Breakfast Creek Hotel for a good feed. The Steaks were cooked to perfection and the variety of beers on tap made it hard to decide what to drink.

A quiet day on Wednesday was spent getting glasses repaired and finding a Bank to deposit a cheque. Thursday saw me re-locate to friends place in Burbank.
    24. The view from my bedroom window

I went for a ride around the coast for a couple of hours and re-visited Cleveland Point Lighthouse and remembered to take Pictures this time!

    25. The Cleveland Point Lighthouse was in use until 1975.

    'Til next week!

I crossed the border checkpoint on the Barry way heading into Jindabyne last weekend. Cops seemed unimpressed we were all 'border residents' around Wodonga/Bright/Myrtleford with eyes rolling when they saw our reason on the permit lol. It's legit so they can't do anything. Was great to go out and not worry about masks.

Have fun in Darwin. I guess you weren't able to make it to the Undara Lava Tubes, South West from Ravenshoe on the Gulf Development Road?

I looked at going there Roger but it would have added another day to my trip and fuel might also have been an issue. I do carry spare fuel but, not being familiar with the area was not so keen. They are definitely on a list of places to visit on a later trip,
