Default Virtual Uluru walk to be banned

Now some while ago climbing Ayres Rock, Uluru was banned, now Parkes Australia have asked Google to remove content which allows a virtual walk on the top of the rock.

    see

Parks Australia has asked Google to remove images of the top of the sacred Indigenous site, Uluru, which allow users to walk on its summit. ......... Google Maps' street view function allows people to move around environments as part of a virtual walking tour.
It contains 360-degree images of the summit of Uluru, allowing users to effectively defy the visitors' ban.
OK so climbing the rock offends some of the Indigenous people, but what the heck is the problem with taking a look at the top? Are they going to require the satellites that are used to take pictures from space to be fitted with blinkers?

Take a look before they remove it

Thought I might do something about this, contacted Google via the report button on maps and said:
I wish to request that the streetview images be retained. It is now not permissible to climb Uluru, a virtual walk harms no one and allows people to see something unique. Parks Australia, do not speak for all of us.

    My "report"
There are reports that this image is to be removed from Google maps because it might "offend" some people. I strongly reject that notion and would be offended if we continue to bow to the "thought police and the zealots who claim custody of an icon that should be accessible to ALL Australians.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

    Offence my arse.
The boongs want to sell Videos or Virtual tours or some other merchandising Revenue raising and see this as a detriment to their income.

It's the same as anytime you want to do anything in the country. Want to put a new road through what has been the back of buttfk for all time? Oh No! That old burnt out tree or rock over there is sacred because of some previously never mentioned, never heard of never documented Rainbow serpent took a Dump there 10,000 years ago and it's an integral part of the locals peoples heritage.... even though only a couple of fkers could tell you where it supposedly is.

You'll have to stop all work for at least 6 Months while we have discussions about it's preservation which will entail moving it somewhere out the road and paying us another $5m on top of the $500K it will take you to shift the thing and soon as that's done no bastard will give a shit again because it was just a random rock or tree in the first fking place but you will be free to build your road or whatever development.

    Never EVER fails......

well said mate , sounds like you have worked in PNG like i have !!!! in 2007 I was picked to project manage an airstrip to service a new mine off NI provence , and the $10million construction grant ( paid for by aussie taxpayers ) is now all spent without a single shovel going in!! still being fought over in court by natives who had not even been to that island!! I told them to call me when they are ready , and that was in 2008! still waiting

    Old saying.....

If it weren't for lawyers, we wouldn't need them...

    My feedback?

I understand that there have been requests to remove the street view images of the top of Ayres Rock from a small minority group. This group has succeeded in excluding Australians from this area. This makes it even more important that the images remain. I would be very disappointed and offended if these images are removed.

They ought to at least close the virtual walk until they get the virtual OHS guys to check it out. Too many virtual trip hazards.
