Gees, they don't build roads like the use to.
Wonder whether their tooth fillings were still in their teeth at the end of the drive ?
notice one thing about all those - they never got stuck in the mud with those o-ring tyres.
bet someof todays 4x4's wouldn't be able to compete with them

As a young teenager we would go on rally's in my dads 1924 Dodge, it had 24" wheels with skinny tyres. A few times they would have driving events held on sports grounds or vacant fields, dad would let me drive when i was about 14 and those tall skinny tyres would sink into the mud and find firm ground and the low gearing would make it just crawl along.
