This may explain China's current trade restrictions.

    Interesting, /I doubt it's true...

A major leak containing a register with the details of nearly two million CCP members has occurred

Seems China was a little upset because they were stopped from their continuing efforts to take over the world....not by force but a smarter way, by buying it! It real cause for concern.

Every country that refuses to take up on their 'offers' will experience a similar fate like Australia. They will find ways to hurt even the smallest countries that are already suffering.
China will own PNG soon and will be able to react very fast in a military conflict.

The Chinese steel mills are crying too because their profit margins are being squeezed due to the high market price of iron ore. It's basically tripled in the last 12months. Apparently Chinese representatives have spoken to BHP about doing something about the price. The price is based on supply and demand anyway, so the market dictates the price! BHP have ships full of coal floating around outside of Chinese ports! Why would they want to offer subsidies anyway?? So it seems Chinese mills are using local poorer quality coking coal that is more expensive as opposed to our coal, squeezing their margins even further. Talk about cutting off ya nose!!!

China imports 6% of its Coal consumption (272,221,858 tons in 2016).

China has proven reserves equivalent to 34.7 times its annual consumption. This means it has about 35 years of Coal left (at current consumption levels and excluding unproven reserves).

China fulfills its demand for coal by purchasing it from regional neighbors. In 2017, its coal imports primarily came from Australia (79.9 million tons), Indonesia (35.2 million tons), Mongolia (33.5 million tons), and Russia (25.3 million tons). Prior to 2017, North Korea was China’s fourth largest coal supplier, ahead of Indonesia and Mongolia. Due to the implementation of UN sanctions on North Korea, China has suspended all coal imports from the regime. As a result, China has shifted to rely more on Russia and Mongolia to fulfill its coal needs.

= they don't need our coal =) They're spending big on nuclear energy anyway to try and hit their supposed 2030 emissions targets ; if they start burning more of their own coal, their emissions are going to increase as a consequence.

Do take note, N.Korea has effectively become CN's coal stockpile (for when the shit eventually hits the fan)

This is basic math -- they're snubbing AU because they can and can more than afford to...and AU needs the sales more than CN needs our coal.

Yeah all figures from somewhere, yet currently in some parts of China people are freezing mainly because they did not consider enough reserves of coal for the early winter and other mishaps.

That coal is currently waiting outside of their docks at sea.
Instead they are waiting to organise coal from other countries.
The big question is do those freezing Chinese people actually know about that?

    Almost certainly not.

The other big question is do the Chinese authorities even care about freezing people?

    Almost certainly not.
