Default Next Person to Walk on the moon.

Welcome to my prediction for 2024.

The next person to walk on the moon will be Stephanie Wilson.
She will be the first person this century to walk on the moon.
She will be the oldest person to walk on the moon.
She will be the first woman to walk on the moon
She will be the first African American to walk on the moon.
and most importantly, the most qualified person.

Yes I am an agent of Satan, but my duties are largely ceremonial.

The Cold War is long over so there is no valid reason for the Yanks to "walk" on the moon.
If Australia is a democracy why, then, is voting compulsory?

So, are you talking about the Chinese "New Left", or is it just another meaningless anti left (Aus) comment?

Edit: I should clarify my comment, and ask... do you actually mean anything in opposition to the western hard right?

I was just saying today how one of the really sad features of the so-called "woke" is their lack of a sense of humour.

Oooh, I like that Hoe, It could be a chinese guy. But I'll bet it's this lady.

And while it's easy to say that her selection might be a token gesture, I would suggest ya look closer because she'd be my first choice if I couldn't see race or sex in the selection of astronauts. I certainly didn't know she was black when I was looking at her street cred. She's not the only woman and not the only African American and not even the only black woman on the team. She has a shitload of engineering experience and even more spaceflight experience.

I'll bet a buck she's kickin up moon dust before the Chinese leave earth orbit.

Just like my response has farkall to do with so called "woke" ness.. the post I replied to has farkall to do with humour. It was just a statement derived from a ten second (I'm being generous) thought process. At least mine took 30 seconds...

I agree with Trash that Stephanie Wilson is an excellent choice but if I understand correctly Apollo Ver 2. aka Artemis, plans in their 3rd rocket in 2024 to send a crew of 4, so who knows if a second lady might be on board.

There is indeed a massive cold war just in case some didn't notice and that is with China which is backed up by Russia, so the race is definitely on.
This is not so much about walking on the moon but being first to have access to the Lunar South Pole where a large amount of frozen water is assumed in craters that never see the sunlight. This is where a lunar outpost may be feasible.

My thoughts here are: China sucks in designing anything technical and is largely reliant on engineers from other countries doing that for them.
So it is either Russia, who has no money for Space exploration (their money is used/stored elsewhere) but their techies are looking for work or the Chinese just steal/purchase know-how from the Western World.

I am not sure if funding will be sufficient for NASA either as they plan to use their own rocket design, rather than SpaceX which would save heaps and likely actually meet that 2024 goal.
As said the race is on ...for that water, so exciting times ahead, I hope.

Stephanie Wilson ? Very good choice. But, not in 2024.. NASA will likely get less urgent after President-elect Joe Biden takes office.

Lets go to the Dark side of the moon.. I want to see if Aliens live there.. LOL

    It's an interesting point Fester.
Think of it like this. We tend to think of Asian student at being smarter. Incorrect racism which is the opposite of thinking of brown people as dumber.
So from a genetic point of view, there should be no reason why the Chinese could not think of their own solutions. We know they do steal intellectual property but even that shouldn't be much of an excuse. When you consider that the Russians stole nuclear weapons information from the Americans they didn't use it to build their own nuclear weapons, they used it to ensure their own scientists were doing their job properly. They didn't give them the answers, they just made sure they didn't get them wrong.

And I can remember all of the chinese (and most of the other asians) in my engineering course cheating. I always incorrectly thought it was because they were smarter and worked harder than I did. Nope. They were just better at cheating and nobody noticing. When they did get caught, there was no repercussions. They got away with it and probably still do.

I'm quite sure the Russians could land on the moon. They have the engineering skills and enough technology to do it. I just don't think they have the money to back it.
China has the money but I also "feel" they don't have the brain power to pull it off. I am unsure if it is an incorrect assessment of their engineering or a cultural thing averse to embarrassment.
And the Russians.. if the Chinese approached them tomorrow and said, we have $100 billion to develop a lunar program and we want to partner with Russia to do it, what's Vlad's response going to be?
There isn't a lot in it for the Russians. They build it, they fly it and Charlie steps out of the hatch first with a USB stick full of Russian intellectual property in his pocket.

If the enemy of my enemy is my friend, I need to pick better friends.

I haven't heard anything from Elon about the moon. It's like it doesn't seem to exist at the moment.
His BFG is certainly proving that it can do everything on Earth that it could do on the moon but it's a long way off from being a functional lander.

Nobody has a functional lander at the moment.

Thailand are planning on going to the moon so Somchai from Nakonnowhere could be the next person to walk on the moon.

Trash, it seems the Chinese are very good at following rules but lack a creativity gene or that part of the brain for true engineering skills but I think there is more.

My father who was a conductor in a large police band in Europe told me that there are two types of people(in his case musicians).
Those who could read from the score and reproduce precisely what was written there and those who would change things and play their own interpretation, they couldn't accurately play by score.
Needless to say that the former are the ones that made his life easy when it comes to getting 60 musicians in synch but he admitted that it were those creative ones, where he gave them as much freedom as possible(and sometimes drove him nuts) that led to the success of his 'Big Band' that went far beyond your average march music band. I think he published 6 albums with them.

Dictators want people who follow rules.
Creative people can't follow rules, they want to make their own. All the Chinese Dictators of the past would be aware of that.
Therefore China can not be a place for creative people. They teach their kids Trigonometry in the 5th grade using books the size a bestseller novel and create the perfect parrots to recite all the formula but what do they end up doing with that?

I don't know if creativity can be trained but I am certain that it can be suppressed.

Music only goes so far Fester. Most session musos can read music and follow instructions. Our problem here is that "we think we are better than that"

We think(actually know) we can do better and get very annoyed when somebody impedes us. Well I at least suffer from that, no difference playing in a band (as a hobby) or working as an engineer.
I solved that problem by choosing a band where I was the composer and I always worked self employed as an engineer. I find flaws and ways for improvement EVERYWHERE, even in non work related areas. I can't help it, maybe it is some kind of mental disorder.

yes. That is a very good observation.

And it annoys me that Australia is full of gatekeepers and people who get in the ####ing way because they can.
There's always some wanker in a group who says, "you can't do that, it's illegal."

[trash's thoughts] ... walks the person outside and you hear a gunshot and trash walks back into the room alone. [/trash's thoughts]

I know a few scout masters and I have always said to them, when you find a kid who is a creatively naughty or an apprentice supervillian don't discipline them, call me and I will let the problem solve itself. These kids only need to be shown the way and then they are ground breakers. I never realised how hard it was to find evil children like myself. Not dumb####s that are stealing cars, but the smart ones who are unlocking all the cars in a carpark at once and watching the chaos.

I can't even find a kid flying rockets in my local park. I never hear suburban explosions as a manhole cover flies off etc.
I mean there aren't even wifi hackers on my open wifi called "free porn". Three years it has been sitting idle and not one person has "war driven" it.

Ha ha, I still look for open (private) Wifi with my phone when I am waiting somewhere, while all the others are frantically responding to their social media accounts.
Not much interesting can be found these days but I am not out much in the dense public.

I have probably said it way too often but I find Australia is the most conservative country in the western world with our overzealous rules and regulations.
That is why not much happens here outside of our backyards and sheds but there you will also find so many crackpots that it is impossible to separate the wheat from the chaff.

The industry quickly loses interest in entrepreneurs and unless you are in some special club with the big boys, an individual stands no chance and even then things will be very limited.

But mainly as you say, anything you might want to create, produce and sell will be somewhat illegal or somebody lobbies that it becomes illegal, to protect big business.

And then we also have the CSIRO that finds ways of patenting everything as broad as possible to make sure that what you come up with breaches something in their patents and locks you out.

I have long given up and do trading as an income. I try to use my creativity to find new strategies.
