A lot omitted I know, but hopefully no screwups.

It’s my 19 minute or so take on the piracy situation i the early 2000’s

Hey Art, you'd remember COCO change day around here then.

Loved it brought back heaps of fond memories. Was a great hobby before $$$ took over and it became a business for some people.

I can go further back to the original galaxy V1.1 cards and when the PK session key stayed the same for weeks. By the end of the cards working the PMK was changing every 15min.

I still have heaps of galaxy/fox cards here if you ever need one ART

Glad it wasn’t a crap video then

I’d have loved a real card for the vid, and thanks for the offer, but I don’t think I’ll revisit it now.
I should have maybe come fishing for one before doing it!

yep and now most have moved onto iptv

When you pay 5 for 3.5k channels including local then then the fun has gone and it's just another supplier
I boxed up all my old sat cards and bits and have no idea where they are in the shed

and the hungry as usual screwed it for the rest

    Many memories there....Great vid.

Like efab, have all that stuff packed up somewhere in the junk museum that is my garage....even a Nokia with allcam AND a well thumbed copy of Acivate11.
The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

    Thanks again guys
Irdeto did have a YT vid of mine deleted some years ago.
It was just a straight animated PMK decrypt demo similar to the one in that vid, but no commentary, and without any context.
Maybe it was more offensive presented that way, but it could disappear again for the same reason.
Whether they had any right of a copyright claim on it I don’t know... all my own software and made up keys, etc.

it was interesting times. Yes we used to watch the TV but it was more the satisfaction of getting around the encryption.

Hacking sat. tv brings back lots of memories. Here in Canada we hacked Directv, Dish network and Bell Expressvu. I still have some cards and programmers.

The beginnings of Big Brother in AU. As I recall Murdock cooked up and proposed the Ausat idea to government as to provide FTA TV AU wide. What a farce that tuned out to be. Bmac and Epal, my introduction to corruption, before that I thought it was something that went on overseas.

But I never figured how come it was piracy? If they put it in the air and I could decode it, so be it, sure as hell never planed to pay them for it, better go without. What was the website name "Thor" or some thing like that? There was a video on it, the website, Iredeto, electron microscopes in Murdock's NDS company in Israel AKA poxtel. Brought down Austar, direct TV, ITN, Astro and one in Hongkong with the card code?

I remember making the cards with the thin 0.5mm PCB the only company that sold that thin PCB I knew was Kalex?? in Ivanhoe Melbourne, and the lady told me they were selling more than ever before and wondered why. But that was so much more refined than my Plessey Bmac box with the 68HC11A8 up on an extension board with 2 pc XTs wired into to it just for a couple of channels. Also epal decoders were illegal with out a broadcasters licence as well. FFS Managed the video but not the sound when it came in..

How we were shafted by regional TV station owners and politicians back then. Nothings changed we have this vast shite FTA and pay $300 for a mpeg 4 box, UEC crap at that which proved it self to be garbage quality for Aurora boxes, fancy going back to them for mpeg4.

When other places up north get 30 chans FTA on the same type of MP4 CA box for less than 20$ or with 6 months free pay service for 35$.

The shafting never stops, thanks BB.

Gold cards, now I have one that opens the gate and doors by RF . How times change..

It's funny how things change - back in the day Thoic, cdcopyworld, austech - personalities such as aaeon1, z80, Grant Walker, Seafarer - I had the Nokia 9500 for logging, the Pace box was modded, most of the bits Art showed on his youtube - fmcard was awesome, I had all of the cards that cmoore had, I do remember sitting in my van on my lunch hour reading Activate11 by 007. Wafer cards, Gamma, dreambox sharing, servers.............

These days I don't even watch free TV, don't watch foxtel, cancelled years ago, I stream movies and TV series when I am at work or doing nothing at home bflix & netflix - I still keep the mind active with electronic repairs, phones, microsoldering, laser cutting, making stuff

what a crazy time - secret squirrel stuff

Interesting video I never really payed much attention to the "hacking" scene in the old days as NZ didnt use irdeto. Though i may have entered some dodgy numbers and letters to get SBS and BTv1 etc a few times when it was on Optus B3 on a dual beam ;-)
