NBN handsets.
Hello,
Just installed NBN Optus with F@st 5366 TN modem. Does anyone know how to connect more than 1 hard wired handset point in the residence? I have heard VDSL splitter can be used at Modem phone port. Any suggestions please .

In most cases, the phone out connector on the modem connects to the premises phone cabling, which has been isolated from the connection socket the modem is connected to.
Ie: The modem must be a stand-alone first connection to the incoming line (assuming you are connected on copper, not fibre). If you have more phone sockets in the premises, they are then connected to the phone output connector of the modem.
Your phone cabling may require re-configuration.
handsets need to be wired on a separate circuit to modem input.
line in should go directly to dsl port on modem with nothing else wired to it, not even unused sockets.
any handsets need to be on a completely separate circuit wired to phone port on modem

We have NBN FTTC. Copper from curb to NBN box input in house. NBN box output is connected to Optus F@st 5366 TN modem. Modem (LAN) outputs connected to laptop and smart TV. (all fine). Modem phone output connected to single landline phone.(all fine)
Can I connect more landline phones in parallel with this phone port or do I need a splitter?

Yes, you can connect more landline phones in parallel with the phone port on the modem.
It does not require a splitter.

I am currently still using my ancient VOIP gateway with multiple PSTN outputs so I can freely connect any telephones and FAX (yes it is still a trusted medium by financial institutions and courts worldwide).

Update: A deletion of features that work well and ain't broke but are deemed outdated in order to add things that are up to date and broken.
Compatibility: A word soon to be deleted from our dictionaries as it is outdated.

The easiest solution is just to get a cordless phone system with as many handsets as you need. It will probably cost you far less than having to get someone to come in and sort out your hard wired handsets.
Guys, the thread is about phone connection, not NBN speeds.
