Hmm... If you have to have a fallback connection as well then it sure as hell ain't worth $139 per month to me!

Every broadband connection needs a fall back if you want 100% uptime.

Most mobile phone hotspots will suffice.

If you can't get broadband at all, a few outages are inconsequential, starlink is a shitload better than any other satellite internet.....

    Update :

Moved the dish to top of the garage, as tree trimming in existing place didnt work.

Now getting 90-120 Megs upload, 15-20 megs download.

Streaming was previously disconnecting every 8-10 mins, whilst it switched satelites.

Now working v well - pretty impressed - just shows the need for a clear unobstructed placement of dishy.

Yes with missiles on the ground stations.

It might be possible to beam nasty shyte to the satellites but that would only effect those satellites while they are flying over Russia and there would be too many to target.

Probably better off trying to hack into the ground stations and create havoc like activating the de-orbit protocol. Hope Starlink has considered this.

Can anyone tell me if Starlink works ok using VPN's ?

and would you be able to use three vpn's on the network (USA, UK, and AUS for different devices)?

I think I read one report that Starlink did not work well using VPN's ?

    cheers

It's not the most stable with VPN and torrenting...

    Iptv over VPN is fine.

I've run 4 vpns with no problem.

There is a 12 month wait for hardware at the moment.

I am streaming over a VPN and now my upload is 10-20MB am seeing v few disconnects.

I ordered my kit the dish via US, 2 months ago, and a router 1 month ago, that has now arrived.

Am a bit surprised there is a 12 month wait.

Hello Folks, please excuse my ignorance. What does it mean if the 'dish' (dinner plate size) has been driven to elevation aimed straight up position? Is the system waiting for a reset.

Starlink is doing very well up here on the Beechmont Range (Gold Coast Hinterland). Beats the crap out of NBN's 'Sky Muster'. Not that I have one and have only done limited work for customers but there are dozens of them in our surrounding area.

    Cheers Hos Here

Straight up generally means it's looking for satellites /initialising.

Sad day today, I said farewell to dishy.....

Sold him on eBay as I no longer need him and have done the testing I wanted to do.

Transfer process was easy, new owner had no problems either.

Trying to navigate their website... Looks like I can get the discount rate but I can't find where I choose any options (rectangular dish, round dish, high performance dish, etc.)?

And trying to figure out if I can use my Netgear router instead of their Starlink one, it's all very vague!

I don't think you get any option on the dish, nor on the router. And unless you buy the wired network dongle, it's all wireless.

the round dish is history, you'll get the new rectangular one.

to get hi performance dish youll need to sign up for a business plan and for the rv dish sign up for the roam plan.

if you buy the lan adaptor and bridge the starlink router then you can use the wan port on your current router.

That's what I understood from your testing, very clear to me & thanks for running us thru your tests.

I got the discount price $199 + $30 P&H & ordered the LAN adaptor for an extra $60. Seems like a good deal.
They say 1 -2 weeks delivery ATM.

My neighbour on the other side of our valley tipped me off about the new price limited deal, when he looked it up while I was on the phone last night quizzing him about his setup. He paid $599 for his equipment only 3 months ago. He was WTF!

Looking forward so much to ditching Skymuster, few, it's been the best we could get here, but hell is it clunky.
Oh & thanks to the Government & the Tax payers for paying for all that equipment for us Rural ppl for so many years. It was way better than dial-up.
    Cheers, Tiny

Lol, years ago I had the dial upload/sat download system, it was shit....

Make sure you use the app to check for obstructions once you are up and running.

Even a small branch etc is enough to cause a regular drop out.

    Cool, thanks.

Bigfella, just in case you haven't worked it out, after you pay for the initial equipment setup, they will allow you to setup an account password, then give you access to the shop for accessories mounts, adaptor etc. Then you order them separate. In my case the LAN adaptor says freight free. I guess they will package it with the dish.

I didn't buy any mounts, as I have a good short pole mount on my roof that I will adapt to the supplied mount (that's a quadrapod - made for flat ground testing).
My neighbour just used the quadrapod & bolted it to his roof & all works well.
Accessory mounts are ~$90-$130 if you feel you need them.
    Cheers, Tiny
