Delete the (previously) mapped network drive(s), and create new drive mapping(s)....at least, iirc...
Hi,
So for a number of years I have run a series of NAS drives networked to my windows 10 computer.
I had \Downloads and \Documents linked to the shares over the network so as I had a central place on my network to store files from multiple computers.
Ex.
Drive Y:\Files\Downloads was my networked downloads folder
Drove Z:\Files\Documents was my networked documents folder.
I altered the path in the properties panel to point to these networked locations.
All up I ran 4 x NAS drives.
Just the other day, I upgraded to a 4 x 10Gbyte RAID5 NAS so as to retire the older NAS's
All working ok and I created individual shares on the new NAS to reflect Downloads, Documents, etc
Now the windows system is still pointing to teh old network locations, which dont exist anymore for Downloads and Documentations.
Google as I have I havent been able to find how to re-direct the Downloads and Documents paths to their new network locations.
The location option path in the properties panel is greyed out showing the old network path, ie, \\10.1.1.61\Files\Downloads etc. I cant edit it.
Anyone have any ideas where to locate? I'm thinking registry but dont really want to start to mess around in there if I dont have to.
I have tried to "restore" defaults in properties which will then point to C:\Users\porkop\Downloads" but wont then allow me to re-assign to its new
location, \\10.1.1.63\Downloads.
Thanks

yep delete the old mapped locations then remap the
new ones through the network detection.
also i know it is silly to mention but you did put it on the same
network group ie HOME - WORK GROUP etc
Workgroup hasnt changed on PC but I’ll take a look on the NAS
As to deleting old mapped drives, was done before I mapped the new drives.
Thanks for your input.

I can understand you don't wanna go there, but you should have a look under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Network just to see what's there ...mapped drives -used- to get recorded under that node
